Local Crime from 16th District 1-15-14
A MAN WAS charged with theft following his arrest at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in the 5100 block of North Delphia Avenue, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
An officer on patrol saw the suspect get out of a car with a compressor, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Joseph Kalamaris, age 21, of the 7400 block of West Strong Street.
A MAN REPORTED that a man struck him with his car during an altercation at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, in an alley in the 7500 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old-man reported that he saw a man in his poking a teenage girl in the alley, and that when he intervened and threatened to call police, the man got in his car and drove into him, causing minor injuries to his knees, according to police.
A MAN WAS charged with possession of cannabis following his arrest at about 1 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at his home in the 7400 block of West Forest Preserve Drive, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
While they were investigating a previous report of a home invasion in the house, officers found about 550 grams of marijuana in a cardboard box and another 1,650 grams in the freezer, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Edgar Garcia, age 27, of the Forest Preserve Drive address.
AN OFFICER on patrol saw two men loading property from a back yard of a home in the 7500 block of West Myrtle Avenue into the bed of a truck at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
The men fled when the officer approached them, and a state trooper spotted the fleeing vehicle at the off ramp at Bryn Mawr Avenue and followed it until it spun out of control, according to police. The men then fled on foot, police said.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Walgreens store, 7652 W. Touhy Ave., was burglarized at about 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man took 25 shaving razors and walked out of the store without paying for the items, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of North Linder Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, and 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a diamond ring, a bag of gold chains, a pair of earrings, a bracelet and four rings valued at a total of approximately $13,500 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her garage and home in the 7700 block of West Catalpa Avenue were burglarized between 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, and 12:45 p.m. the following day, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the back door of the house and the garage door had been pried open and that tool, gaming consoles and a 30-inch range were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the catalytic converter was stolen from his car between 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, and 8:30 a.m. the following day while it was parked in the 4400 block of North Mango Avenue, according to 16th (Albany Park) District police.
