Local Crime from 16th District 1-18-17
A WOMAN reported that her car was stolen at gunpoint at about 1 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in the 3500 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 25-year-old woman reported that as she was walking from her 2014 Scion, four or five men got out of a car and of the men displayed a handgun and demanded her belongings, according to police. The woman said that when she said that that they were in her car two men drove away in her vehicle and the other men fled in another vehicle, police said.
Officers who were at a fire in the 3600 block of North Drake Avenue saw a group men in flee the car in an alley in the 3600 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, police said.
EMPLOYEES reported that a man robbed the Thai Thai Restaurant, 3922 N. Elston Ave., at gunpoint at about 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 25-year-old woman reported that a man entered the restaurant, displayed a hadngun and took $600 from the cash register, then struck her in the face and took her ring, according to police. The 58-year-old owner reported that as he was calling police, the man attempted to take the phone andx dropped the gun, which officers later determined was a replica, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED on Jan. 12 that he was robbed at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, in the 3300 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 63-year-old man reported that two men knocked him to the ground and punched and kicked him and took his wallet containing a debit card and $100, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in the 3400 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 45-year-old man reported that a group of four men punched him and took his wallet and his cell phone, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man stole his car at about 12:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, in the 4900 block of North Troy Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 64-year-old man reported that after he fell asleep in his car, a man opened the door and searched his pockets, and that when he resisted, the man pulled him from his 1998 Cadillac DeVille and drove away in the car, police said.
A COUPLE reported that they were the victims of a scam at about 3:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at their home in the 6200 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An 82-year-old man reported that two men said that they were with the water department and needed to check the pipes in the basement, according to police. The man said that he went with one of the men to the basement and the 78-year-old woman reported that she went with the other man to check the faucet in the bathroom upstairs, and they later discovered that 10 rings valued at $1,000, four necklaces, two passports and $400 in cash were missing, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3700 block of North Bernard Street was burglarized between 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, and 3 a.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was unlocked and that a watch valued at $600 and an Amazon Echo device were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 2 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in the 6600 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle that was speeding and that made a right turn without a signal, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as David J. Lewis, age 26, of the 2800 block of West Lunt Avenue.
