Local Crime from 16th District 1-25-17
A MAN WAS shot at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, in the 3600 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that as he was driving north on Central, a passenger in a Toyota Corolla next to him fired four shots at him and he was struck in the upper left arm, according to police. The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, police said.
A MAN WAS shot at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, in the 6500 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that he was a passenger in a car with several people, and the 19-year-old driver reported that a man in a pickup truck fired several shots and one of them grazed the man, according to police. The man was treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
EMPLOYEES reported that the AT&T store, 5224 N. Northwest Hwy., was robbed at gunpoint at about 7:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employees reported that two men entered the store, one with a gun in his waistband, that the two forced them into the back room and they demanded cell phones, according to police. A 26-year-old employee reported that she entered a code for the secured closet and the man took about 45 cell phones and 11 tablets valued at $22,345 and $879 in cash, police said.
The employees reported that a shipment of phones and tablets had been delivered earlier in the day, police said.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Food Market Santa Fe, 5001 W. Addison St., was robbed at gunpoint at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old employee reported that three men entered the store and that one of them displayed a handgun and took $500 from the cash register and his cell phone, according to police.
TWO CARS were reported stolen from the Chicago Car Corner, 5840 N. Elston Ave., at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A surveillance video shows that two men entered through the rear window and drove away in two unlocked cars, a 2013 BMW and a 2014 Mercedes-Benz, according to police.
EMPLOYEES reported that the Burger Belly restaurant, 5739 W. Irving Park Road, was burglarized at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employees reported that they discovered that a cash register was broken on the floor and that $300 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a box of team and individual photographs of the Edison Park youth basketball team valued at $3,646 was stolen between noon Friday, Jan. 13, and 11 a.m. the following day, from a locker at Brooks Park, 7100 N. Harlem Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A COUPLE reported that their home in the 3900 block of North Leclaire Avenue was burglarized at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the window had been opened and that two envelopes containing $1,200 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5900 block of North Northwest Highway was burglarized between 5 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that two antique figurines valued at $1,000 and $1,450 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 7800 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that seven watches, a necklace, two rings and a tablet were missing, according to police.
