Local Crime from 16th District 1-27-2016
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, in the 4500 block of North Menard Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 45-year-old man reported that two men punched him and one of them struck him with a metal pipe and took his cell phone valued at $300 and his wallet containing credit cards, according to police. The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in the 3600 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 54-year-old woman reported that as she was walking her dog she heard a car approach and park in the alley between Patterson and Waveland avenues, according to police. The woman reported that moments later a man took her purse containing her cell phone valued at $600, debit and credit cards and false teeth valued at $4,000, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in the 3500 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 55-year-old man reported that as he sat in his car, a man opened the passenger door and put his hands on a 12-pack of beer and told him that he was getting into the car, according to police. The man said that when he saw that the men was holding a gun, he got out of his car and attempted to stop passing cars and that the man fled in a red and yellow Ford Crown Victoria vehicle that looked like a former taxicab, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 2:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, in the 3400 block of North Natchez Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 67-year-old woman reported that a man got out of a car, punched her in the back of the head, knocked her to the ground and took her purse cash and credit, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about noon Monday, Jan. 25, in an alley in the 3300 block of North Narragansett Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 73-year-old woman reported that a man got out of a car and took a plastic bag containing $2,580 in cash, a Polish passport and her cell phone, according to police.
THE OWNER of Al’s Pizza, 6344 W. Irving Park Road, reported that a man threatened him with a gun at about 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 67-year-old man reported that a man wanted to wash his windows and that when he told him that he already had a man who performed that service, the man became agitated and took a bag of salt and put it in his car, according to police. The owner said that when he took back the bag of salt, the man displayed a handgun before he fled a red and white or yellow Ford Crown Victoria, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in the 5800 block of North Cumberland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 46-year-old woman reported that a man took her handbag containing credit cards and $30 in cash, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, in the 5700 block of West Melrose Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 64-year-old woman reported man got out of a car and took her purse containing her cell phone and credit cards, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that three men broke into his home in the 5200 block of West School Street and robbed him at about 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that three men confronted him, pushed him into his apartment, tied him up and attacked him, according to police. The man said that one of the men displayed a handgun and took his cell phone and his wallet containing a car title and that the other men punched and kicked him, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, in the 5100 block of North East River Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 25-year-old man reported that a man struck him from behind and took $425 in cash, his watch and an alligator band valued at $800, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 6:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, in the 3800 block of North Nordica Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 47-year-old woman reported that a man got out of a car and took her purse containing $7, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, in the 3500 block of North Oketo Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that a man displayed a handgun, struck her on the head, knocked her to the ground and took her purse containing $200 and her cell phone, according to police.
THEFTS OF catalytic converters were reported on the Northwest Side between Jan. 20 and 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 4800 block of North Rutherford Avenue, the 5400 block of North Newland Avenue, the 7000 block of North Mankato Avenue, the 6400 block of North Nokomis Avenue, the 5400 block of North Ludlam Avenue, the 4300 block of North Moody Avenue, the 5800 block of North Octavia Avenue, the 7200 block of West Summerdale Avenue and in the 5700 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to police.
Also, in the 5000 and 5300 blocks of West Winnemac Avenue, the 6900 block of North Medford Avenue, the 5500 block of West Edmund Street, the 7000 and 7100 blocks of North Mason Avenue, the 5100 block of North Melvina Avenue, the 5700 blocks of North Lansing Avenue, the 6800 block of North Loleta Avenue and the 6300 block of North Natoma Avenue, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6000 block of West Cornelia Avenue was burglarized at about 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $300 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his work van was burglarized between 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, and 6 a.m. the following day, while it was parked in the 6100 block of West Gunnison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the sliding door had been forced open and that two floor sanders valued at $7,260 were missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their home in the 6600 block of North Keota Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, and 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the front and rear doors were open and that a watch, miscellaneous jewelry, wedding flatware, a laptop computer and $10,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his mother’s home in the 4800 block of North Nagle Avenue was burglarized between 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, and 8:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to the home he discovered that a rear window was broken and that a television set valued at $1,200 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3400 block of North Narragansett Avenue was burglarized between 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, and 3 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was unlocked and that an iPod, 17 bottles of wine and three rings valued at $700 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6000 block of West School Street was burglarized at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a rear window was open and that rings, a watch, a necklace, a purse and a storage box containing $1,100 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5400 block of North Lawler Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the side door was open and that bracelets and earrings valued at $550, a coat valued at $500, gift cards valued at $175, two watches valued at $310 and $1,725 in cash were missing, according to police.
