Local Crime from 16th District 1-30-19
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the 5200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 52-year-old man reported that while he was arguing with a man the man punched him in the left side of his face before he fled, according to police.
The man was described as white, about 5-0 and 150 pounds.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Tobacco Outlet store, 5901 W. Irving Park Road, reported two men took items from the business at about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that two men entered the store and one of the men distracted him while the other man took several packages of cigars valued at $250 and they both ran out of the store without paying for the items, according to police. The employee reported that while he was chasing the men, one of the men told him he had a gun before they both entered a black Honda sport utility vehicle and drove away, police said.
The men were both described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 25, about 5-8 and between 140 and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and wearing black hooded sweatshirts.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening two women with a handgun at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, in the 6200 block of West Berenice Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Two women reported that after they had an argument with a woman, her husband approached them at their front door holding a handgun and said, "Come and let’s get this over with because I cannot do this around my family," according to police. Officers arrested the man after he matched a description and they discovered that he violated an active order of protection, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Michael A. Parsons, age 41, of the West Berenice address.
AN EMPLOYEE of Max’s Food and Liquor, 6200 W. Belmont Ave., reported that a man shoplifted an item from the store at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The owner reported that a man entered the store, took a bottle of Hennessey cognac valued at $40 and exited the store without paying for the item, and drove away in a white 4-door Toyota automobile, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, and 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, while it was parked in the 3900 block of North Oriole Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The teenager reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered that a backpack valued at $120, a cheerleading skirt valued at $100, a pair of shoes valued at $80, clothing valued at $60 and a pocket knife valued at $20 were missing, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of Belmont Funeral Home, 7120 W. Belmont Ave., reported that a man attempted to attack him and set fire to a trashcan inside the business at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the business to use the restroom and entered the women’s restroom, and that after 30 minutes when he entered the restroom to check on the man, he saw the man standing shirtless in front of a mirror rubbing his upper torso, according to police.
The employee reported that he asked the man to leave the business and that the man said "Make me get out," before he started punching and kicking at him and exited through the front door, police said. The employee reported he smelled something burning inside the women’s restroom and discovered that paper had been set on fire inside a trashcan, and that he extinguished the fire, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, between 6-1 and 6-4, between 150 and 160 pounds, with short black hair and wearing a long black jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5200 block of West Pensacola Avenue was burglarized at about 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered jewelry valued at $1,500 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen at about 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the 7600 block of West Forest Preserve Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he left his green 2009 Honda Accord automobile unattended while the vehicle was warming up with the key inside the ignition, and that a person entered the vehicle and drove away in it, according to police.
