Local Crime from 16th District 10-11-17
A MAN WAS placed into custody for allegedly stabbing his roommate at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Irving Hotel, 4849 W. Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a person stabbed and saw a 31-year-old man in the hotel lobby with stab wounds to his arms, legs, neck and back, according to police. The man reported that he had a disagreement with his roommate over money and that the man tried to stab him with a knife, according to police. The man reported that he fought with the man and wrestled the knife away from him and that the man then slashed him with a "samurai sword," police said.
Officers went to the room and discovered that it was in disarray with blood on the walls and floors and the 21-year-old man was gasping for air with serious stab wounds, according to police. The man told officers that he caused injuries to himself, police said
Both men were transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, according to police. The 21-year-old man was in custody but it is unknown if he was charged with a crime since he was admitted to the hospital, police said.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 10:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in the 4900 block of West Patterson Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 30-year-old man reported that he exited his parked vehicle when two men shouted at him to get down and that one of the men fired a gun at a black Cadillac sport utility vehicle down the block while yelling gang slogans, according to police.
Another 30-year-old man reported that he was in his home and heard four to five gunshots, and a minute later heard eight to 10 more shots, police said.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 10:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in the 3300 block of North Lavergne Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 29-year-old man reported that he saw a man exit an alley and fire a rifle toward a silver vehicle driving west on Henderson Street, and that the man was with an unknown number of people holding pipes and baseball bats, according to police. Police said that they found nine 22-caliber shell casings on scene, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was struck by a car and beaten with a baseball bat while bicycling in the 5500 block of West Higgins Avenue at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 53-year-old man reported that he was biking in the roadway when a black Jeep Wrangler struck him and that the vehicle’s occupants yelled at him to stay on the sidewalk, according to police. The man reported that when approached the vehicle to confront them, and a man exited the passenger side with a baseball bat and hit him in the head, police said. The man then was treated at Community First Medical Center, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, in the 4100 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 61-year-old woman reported that she was walking when a man exited the passenger side of a blue vehicle, brandished a handgun and demanded her belongings, and took a wallet, two prepaid cards and less than $10 in cash, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him with a handgun while driving in the 6300 block of North Caldwell Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 34-year-old man reported that he was at a stoplight and told the driver of a black Toyota sedan that he was driving erratically and that the driver pointed a handgun at him and threatened to kill him, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Hiawatha Park, 8029 W. Forest Preserve Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 13-year-old male reported that he was in a verbal altercation with four other teens when they punched him, and took his iPhone, according to police.
All of the teens were described as white and age 13 to 15. Two teens were male, and two were female.
SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported between Oct. 2 and 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 7700 block of West Patterson Avenue, the 6600 block of North Olmsted Avenue, the 6500 block of North Natoma Avenue, the 3300 block of North Melvina Avenue, the 3200 block of North Laramie Avenue, the 5500 block of West Dakin Street, the 4200 block of North Monitor Avenue, the 5300 block of West Warwick Avenue, the 3500 block of North Linder Avenue and the 5000 block of West Roscoe Street, according to police.
Thefts were also reported in the 7000 block of West Newport Avenue, the 5900 block of West Newport Avenue, the 4500 block of North Long Avenue, the 5300 block of West Pensacola Avenue, the 5200 block of North Lockwood Avenue, the 5300 block of North Cumberland Avenue, the 5400 block of West Rosedale Avenue, the 8400 block of West Berwyn Avenue the 7000 block of West Melrose Street and 5300 block of West Warwick Avenue, according to police.
