Local Crime from 16th District 10-25-17
A MAN AND A TEENAGER were arrested after they allegedly stole a vehicle from a newspaper deliveryman while his two children were inside at about 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, in the 5400 block of North Lovejoy Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 28-year-old newspaper deliveryman reported that he was on his delivery route with his 3-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter in the back seat, and that when he exited his vehicle with the keys still inside the ignition, a man entered his vehicle and drove away while a teenager driving in a black Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle followed after him, according to police.
Officers said that a witness told them that he saw a teenager matching a description park in the 5200 block of North Leamington Avenue and then enter a residence in the 5200 block of North Laramie Avenue, and the teen was arrested after he was located in the residence, police said.
Officers stopped a man walking in the 5400 block of North Lieb Avenue who matched a description and the man was arrested after he was identified, according to police. The deliveryman’s vehicle was located with his children still inside by a witness in the 5500 block of North Central Avenue, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Christopher Marquez, age 19, of the 5300 block of North Central Avenue, and as a 17-year-old teenage male.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, in the 4800 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 38-year-old man reported he exited his rental vehicle when two men in a black Mercedes sport utility vehicle drove next to him and one of the men exited the vehicle, pointed a handgun at him, demanded his possessions and took $10 in cash and the keys to the rental vehicle from him before he entered their vehicle and drove away, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that shots were fired at about 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, near Foreman High School, 3235 N. Leclaire Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The school employee reported that while she was standing at the rear of the school property, she heard several shots that appeared to be fired in the 3000 block of West School Street and then saw a black Ford F-150 pickup truck drive from the direction where she heard the gunshots east with a red Honda vehicle following behind it, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man pointed a handgun at him at about 9:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the 5700 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that he was driving and stopped his vehicle at a traffic light, and looked at his rearview mirror and saw a man in a vehicle behind him point a handgun at him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him at about 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at his home in the 4900 block of West Cuyler Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 67-year-old man reported that a man knocked on his door who was soliciting for an electric company, and that after he asked the man to leave, the man proceeded to the second floor of the building and that after he confronted the man and asked the man to leave a second time, the man pushed him and attempted to punch him before he forced the man out away from the front door, entered his apartment, locked the door and the man fled, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue was burglarized between 7 p.m. ad 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear window had been broken and that the door had been opened, and that a television set valued at $750 and a television set valued at $500 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her residence in the 7000 block of West Roscoe Street was burglarized at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered the kitchen window had been forced open and that a Sony Play Station 4 video game console and jewelry were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, in the 5000 block of North Oak Park Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered that her debit card, cell phone, driver’s license, sunglasses and cash were missing, according to police.
SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported on the Northwest Side Between Oct. 20 and Oct. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Incidents of stolen vehicles were reported in the 6500 block of West Foster Avenue, the 6900 block of North Monon Avenue, the 6300 block of West Holbrook Street, the 5500 block of West Sunnyside Avenue and the 8500 block of West Berwyn Avenue, according to police.
THEFTS of catalytic converters from vehicles were reported between Oct. 16 and 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 4500 block of North Mobile Avenue, the 6200 block of West Warwick Avenue, the 6200 block of West Waveland Avenue, the 5200 block of West Byron Street, the 4800 block of West Dakin Street, the 4500 block of North Mobile Avenue, the 6200 and 6300 blocks of West Grace Street and the 5300, 5400 and 5500 blocks of West Windsor Avenue, according to police.
