Local Crime from 16th District 11-11-15
TWO GIRLS reported that three men in a maroon vehicle attempted to lure them into their car at about 7:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in the 3400 block of North Page Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The girls, age 12 and 13, reported that as they were practicing gymnastics in the front yard, a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica stopped and the rear passenger asked if they wanted some candy, according to police. The girls reported that they ran into the house and that the car sped away, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his 2001 Chrysler Sebring was stolen at gunpoint at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in the 5000 block of North Meade Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 25-year-old man reported that after he stopped his car at a stop sign at Meade and Higgins avenues, a man blocked his way and two men got out of a car that was parked nearby and approached his vehicle, according to police. The man said that one of the men displayed a handgun and ordered him out of the car, police said. He said that the two men fled in his car and that the other man entered the vehicle that was parked nearby and driven by a fourth man, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the 3700 block of North Austin Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that a man and a woman engaged him a conversation and that the man displayed a handgun and took his wallet containing a bus card, a debit card, his driver’s license and $15, according to police.
THE OWNER of the A & G Fresh Market, 5630 W. Belmont Ave., reported that a woman took $150 worth of food at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The owner reported that the woman put groceries into a bag and her purse and left the store without paying for the items, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about noon Friday, Nov. 6, in an alley in the 5500 block of West Foster Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that he was dumping garbage from his vehicle when two men attacked him and took an envelope containing $10,000, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Edgebrook Motel, 6401 W. Touhy Ave., reported that he was robbed at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 58-year-old man reported that two men entered the motel and said that they were locked out of their room, according to police. The man said that he could not hear them through the glass so he opened the office door and the men pushed him to the floor and one of them put him in a choke hold while the other took his wallet containing his driver’s license and $150 in cash and $500 in cash from the register, police said.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Subway restaurant, 3551 N. Central Ave., was robbed at about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a man entered the restaurant and ordered sandwiches and then displayed a handgun and took $100 in cash and the sandwiches, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in the 5600 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man reported that as he was accessing his van from the rear, a man struck him on the head and a second man took $602 in cash and a credit card, a debit card and his driver’s license, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in the 3900 block of North Meade Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 69-year-old woman reported that as she and a friend entered her courtyard, two men emerged from bushes, pushed her to the ground and took a bag containing a sweater and a newspaper, according to police.
THE OWNER of Delightful Pastries, 5927 W. Lawrence Ave., reported that the business was robbed at about 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 44-year-old woman reported that she saw on a camera that a man broke the front window and searched the back office, according to police. The woman said that she confronted the man in the hallway and that he said that he was helping a friend move, police said. The woman reported that a cash register containing $500, an envelope containing $1,000 and a metal box containing $200 were missing, according to police.
CAR THEFTS were reported on Nov. 7 to 8 on the Northwest Side, according 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Cars were reported stolen in the 7700 block of West Belmont Avenue, the 5700 block of West Leland Avenue, the 6700 block of North Onarga Avenue, the 5500 block of West Newport Avenue, the 4800 block of North Melvina Avenue and the 5200 block of North Neenah Avenue, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5100 block of North Newland Avenue was burglarized between 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, and 12:45 p.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that necklaces, bracelets, earrings, a beer stein, a safety deposit box key, a passport and two television sets were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 3900 block of North Pittsburgh Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, and 7:20 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that he discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a 2007 Yamaha motorcycles, a helmet, two television sets, an air compressor, a car charger, a jump starter, two jacks, a ladder, a rotor hammer, four cables, a laser measuring tool, a table saw, a miter saw, two stoves, a microwave oven, a processor, 30 dimmer boxes, an audio system, four speakers, a sink, two television brackets, a patio set, a bend saw, an air gun, an inspection camera, two hammer drills, a cable tuner, two backpacks, a tent, a mattress and an air pump were missing, according to police.
