Local Crime from 16th District 11-16-2016
A MAN WAS shot during an attempted robbery at about 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the 7300 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 33-year-old man reported that a man asked him for a cigarette, displayed a handgun at him and demanded his money and wallet, according to police. The man said that he thought that the gun was a fake so he grabbed it, and that during a struggle he was shot in his hand, police said. The man was treated at Resurrection Hospital, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, in the 5000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that three men approached him and his 29-year-old girlfriend them and that one of them asked his gang affiliation, according to police. The man said that when he responded that he is not in a gang, the men punched and kicked him and one of the struck him the head with a brick, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in the 5700 block of West Dakin Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old woman reported that as she was pushing her daughter in a stroller a man pressed a gun to her back and took her purse containing her checkbook, baby clothes and $200, according to police.
A WOMAN reported on Nov. 9 that a man stole her wallet at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the 5100 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 59-year-old woman reported that a man ran up and took her wallet containing $60, a Link card and a social security card from her hand, according to police.
THEFTS OF vehicles were reported between Nov. 8 and 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 8200 block of West Forest Preserve Drive, the 3900 block of North Cicero Avenue, the 4100, 5100 and 5300 blocks of West School Street, the 3300 block of North Lamon Avenue, the 4100 block of North Mango Avenue, the 4000 block of North McVicker Avenue, the 5900 block of North Odell Avenue, the 5100 block of West Belmont Avenue, the 5000 block of North Neenah Avenue and the 5300 block of West Irving Park Road, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Metro PCS store, 7235 W. Irving Park Road, reported that two men stole merchandise at about noon Monday, Nov. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old woman reported that two men entered the store, cut six cell phones off the display and took the phones valued at $3,700, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the T-Mobile store, 7309 W. Irving Park Road, reported that two men stole merchandise at about 11:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that two men took two cell phones valued at $1,400 and an iPad valued at $1,100 from the display, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 5:25 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at her home in the 5500 block of North Natchez Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 89-year-old woman reported that a woman came to her door and told her that she was her new neighbor and that she needed hot water to wash something in her home, according to police. The woman said that she and the woman went to the basement and that after when the woman left she discovered that $160 was missing from a bedroom, police said.

The 81-year-old woman reported that a man came to her home and distracted her and that she later discovered that jewelry valued at $100 and keys were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6200 block of West Berenice Avenue was burglarized between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the side door was unlocked and that $1,000 was missing, according to police.

The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that jewelry valued at $1,000 was missing, according to police.

The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that two pairs of earrings valued at $1,100, a ring valued at $1,000, an engagement ring valued at $3,500, a watch and an iPad were missing, according to police.

The women reported that when they returned home they discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a 50-inch television set, speakers, a laptop computer, bracelets, a necklace, earrings, rings, a jacket and a watch were missing, according to police.
