Local Crime from 16th District 11-23-2016
A TEENAGER was arrested after he allegedly stole a car at gunpoint at about 12:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in the 3500 block of North Neva Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 23-year-old man reported that after he parked his 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor a teenager approached the driver’s-side window, displayed a handgun and forced him out of the car, according to police. The man said that as the teen drove away, he struck a vehicle, breaking an axle or tire causing the Mitsubishi to break down, police said. The man reported that a man told the teen to stay calm and shouted to him, "He’s got a gun," police said.
The man provided a description of the men, and officers placed a teenager and a man into custody but later released the man without charges, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as a 15-year-old male.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly attacked paramedics at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, outside Resurrection Hospital, 7435 W. Talcott Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The paramedics, age 22 and 57, reported that they transported a man from Richie’s Restaurant and Lounge in Schiller Park, and that when they arrived at the hospital the man attempted to leave the ambulance, according to police. The man punched and kicked one of the paramedics before they were able to subdue him, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Frank P. Burdi, age 27, of the 30 block of Founders Pointe, Bloomingdale.
A MAN WAS shot at about 11:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at the Shell gas station, 5201 W. Addison St., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 58-year-old employee reported that two men purchased items at the store and that after they left he heard four or five shots outside and one of the men returned and said that he had been shot, according to police. The 27-year-old man reported that man drove up in a car, talked to him briefly, and then shot him in the chest, police said.
The man was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital for treatment for the gunshot, police said.
A MAN WAS shot at about 4 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in the 3200 block of North Austin Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that three men approached him and demanded his cell phone and money and that when he said that he did not have any, one of the men shot him in the legs with a shotgun, according to police. The man was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital for surgery on his legs, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him a gun at him at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the 6600 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man reported that a man cut him off in traffic and that when he drove up next to the man’s car at Higgins and Natoma avenues the man displayed a handgun, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the CVS Pharmacy, 4801 N. Central Ave., reported that a man and a woman took items and threatened her with a syringe at about 8:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 58-year-old woman reported that she saw a man place razor blades into a bag and that when she confronted the man he told her that he had a syringe that is infected with HIV, according to police. The woman said that a woman approached and the man asked her if she had the syringe, and that the woman said that she did and the two took $900 worth of razor blades and left the store, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a handgun was stolen from his vehicle between 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, and 11 a.m. the following day while it was parked in the 7300 block of North Octavia Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that a .38 caliber revolver was missing was missing from the car, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 4800 block of West Catalpa Avenue was burglarized at about 12:55 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she saw two men running from the garage and that she discovered that side door had been forced open and that a bag of tools valued at $200 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man forced himself into her home in the 5300 block of West Waveland Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 65-year-old woman reported that a man came to her door and told her that he needed hot water in order to fix the roof and that he entered her home without permission, according to police. The woman reported that she pointed a pair of scissors at the man and he left, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man broke into his home in the 4800 block of West Strong Street at about 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 76-year-old man reported that when he returned home he saw a man leaving the basement and he discovered that jewelry valued at $6,000 and citizenship documents were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5500 block of West Henderson Street was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that three chains valued at $2,000, six gold rings valued at $750, a television set valued at $800, a laptop computer valued at $1,500 and $2,500 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3300 block of North Narragansett Avenue was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that her bedroom door had been forced open and that 10 gold rings, six bracelets, 15 gold necklaces and $600 in cash were missing, according to police.
