Local Crime from 16th District 11-27-13

THE OWNER OF O’Malley’s Pub, 3215 N. Harlem Ave., reported that he was attacked at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that as he was talking to a female bar patron, a man began arguing with him and then punched him repeatedly, knocking him to the floor, before other patrons broke up the fight, according to police. The man drove himself to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, where he was treated for broken teeth, police said.
The assailant was described as white, age 20 to 30, 6-0 and 160 pounds.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, in the 5300 block of West School Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 82-year-old woman reported that after she exited her garage, a man jumped over a fence and took her purse containing a cell phone, credit cards and $50 in cash, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested on retail theft charges at about 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Jewel-Osco store, 4734 N. Cumberland Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that he saw the man place 18 boxes of antacid medicine valued at $337.32 in a bag and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Daniel Bradich, age 31, of the 4700 block of West Addison Street.

A MAN WAS arrested on retail theft charges at about 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Walgreens store, 5650 W. Belmont Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A witness reported that she saw the man take two boxes of diapers, one box of baby wipes and five hair products valued at a total of $117.89 and leave the store without paying for the items e, according to police. The man was arrested after he was identified in the 5700 block of West Belmont Avenue, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Javier Garcia, age 37, of the 3200 block of West Fulton Street.

A MAN REPORTED that he threatened by a man with a gun at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, in the 5100 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man reported three men approached him and demanded marijuana, and that when he said that he did not have any drugs, one of the men punched him in the face and pointed a gun at him, according to police.
One of the men was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 23, 6-1 to 6-2 and 190 to 200 pounds, with a teardrop tattoo on his face and wearing a black hat, a blue jacket with dark writing, blue jeans and white gym shoes. A second man was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 23, 5-8 to 5-9 and 180 to 190 pounds, and wearing a gray hat, a gold jacket, dark jeans and black shoes. The third man was described white, age 20 to 233, 5-9 to 6-0 and 190 to 200 pounds, and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.

A MAN WAS arrested on public indecency charges at about 3:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in the 5300 block of North Neenah Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 42-year-old postal worker reported that as she was delivering mail, a man called for her attention and exposed his penis, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Thomas S. Shields, age 28, of the 6600 block of West Foster Avenue.

TWO OFFICERS pulled an unconscious man from a burning vehicle at about 1:10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in the 6000 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report of car on fire pulled out the man from the driver’s seat, according to police. The man was treated for smoke inhalation at Resurrection Hospital, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man took items from the rear of the Mariano’s food store, 5353 N. Elston Ave., between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that he saw white rental truck pull up behind the store and that that he later discovered that 25 wood pallets valued at $625, 200 milk crates valued at $200 and three bails of cardboard valued at $1,500 were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that a man entered her home in the 5400 block of West Henderson Street at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 84-year-old woman reported that as she was doing yard work, a man got out of a black pickup truck, showed her a note with a Commonwealth Edison logo and said that he wanted to inspect wires on the side of the house, according to police. The woman said that the man led her to the side of the home and that when she returned to the front yard she saw a second man leaving her home, police said. The woman said that nothing appeared to be missing from the home but that drawers had been rummaged through, police said.
One of the men was described as white, 5-10 and 200 pounds. The other man was described as white/Hispanic, age 30 to 35, 6-8 and 180 pounds.

A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5400 block of North Lotus Avenue was burglarized between midnight and 3 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that a generator valued at $1,200, a saw valued at $400, a concrete-cutting machine valued at $100 and a grass trimmer were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 4900 block of West Waveland Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, and 7 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that three tires valued at $375 were missing from the garage, according to police.

THE LIS FOOD and Liquor store, 5316 W. Lawrence Ave., was burglarized at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a cash register was missing, according to police.

EMPLOYEES OF Cuenca’s Family Hair Salon, 4171 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported that a man took the cash register at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that a man said that he wanted to get a haircut and asked to use the rest room, and that as she began to wash a customer’s hair the man unplugged the cash register valued at $500 and containing $200 in cash, carried to a car and fled, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 23, 5-5 and 150 pounds, and wearing a yellow jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
