Local Crime from 16th District 11-30-2016
A MAN WAS shot at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the parking lot of the Automotive Discount Services shop, 5738 W. Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that a man who was standing with another man was shot in the leg and that the second man put him into a car and drove away, according to police. Witnesses said that they saw a sport utility vehicle turn onto Mango Avenue from Irving Park and that three shots were fired from the vehicle, police said.
A 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound reported at Swedish Covenant Hospital that his 19-year-old friend drove him there, police said.
EMPLOYEES reported that PNC Bank, 6401 N. Harlem Ave., was robbed at about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employees reported that a man handed a teller a note that demanded money and said that he had a gun, and that the man fled with $3,000 to $4,000 in cash, according to police.
TWO PEOPLE reported that they were robbed at gunpoint at about 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at a home in the 5600 block of North Parkside Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old woman reported that a man entered the home through the back door, displayed a handgun and took $180 from them, according to police. The two said that the man ordered them upstairs and took a Playstation 3 video game console, video games and speakers, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man took his girlfriend’s car at gunpoint at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in the 7700 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that after he parked the 1998 Mazda, a man asked for a cigarette, then entered the car, struck him on the head with a gun, ordered him out of the vehicle and drove away, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 2:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, in an alley in the 5200 block of West Henderson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 66-year-old woman reported that a vehicle blocked her path after she got off a bus, according to police. The woman said that a passenger got out of the car with a gun and attempted to take her purse, and that during the struggle the man struck her on the head with the gun and took the purse containing identification, keys and $170, police said. The woman was treated at Community First Medical Center, police said.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that Domino’s Pizza, 3336 N. Harlem Ave., was robbed at gunpoint at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 24-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun, took $1,700 from the cash register, struck the man in the face with the gun and fled, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in the 3500 block of North Mobile Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 72-year-old woman reported that a man knocked her to the ground and took her purse containing her cell phone, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, in the 3400 block of North Long Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 60-year-old woman reported that a man struck her in the face, knocking her unconscious, and took her purse, according to police. The woman was treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
EMPLOYEES of the T-Mobile store, 5546 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported that a man took three cell phones at about 10:25 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employees reported that a man cut a security wire and took three iPhones valued at $2,200, according to police. Several similar thefts have been reported in the area recently, police said.
RESIDENTS reported that their home in the 4200 block of North Melvina Avenue was burglarized at about 7:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The residents reported that when they returned home they discovered that the back door had been forced open and that jewelry valued at $20,000, a watch valued at $1,500 and $15,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6200 block of North Nagle Avenue was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that two checkbooks, a check for $209 and $3,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5400 block of North Lawler Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 7:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the side door had been forced open and that two wedding bands valued at $8,500, bracelets valued at $3,000 and other jewelry valued at $1,000 were missing, according to police.
