Local Crime from 16th District 12-18-13
A MAN WAS arrested on drug charges at about midnight Sunday, Dec. 15, at a home in the 5800 block of North Nagle Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report of loud music at an apartment building smelled the odor of marijuana in an apartment when a door opened as they arrived, according to police. Four men in the apartment were questioned but were not charged, but the man who rents the apartment was arrested after officers found a total of 2,973 grams of a substance suspected of being marijuana and 30 grams of a substance suspected of being methamphetamine in the apartment, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Matthew Sheridan, age 18, of the Nagle address.
TWO WOMEN WERE arrested on prostitution charges in a police sting operation at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at a home in the 6000 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers received information about an illegal massage parlor and a possible prostitution operation at the home on Addison and discovered an advertisement featuring photos of women in lingerie for massage, lap dance and other services on a Web site, according to police. An officer called the number on the advertisement and arranged a meeting with a woman, police said.
When the undercover officer arrived he was led to the second floor, and he arranged for a "tantra massage" at a cost of $70 for 45 minutes, according to police. A second woman arrived and showed her breasts, and the officer received a massage for 10 minutes before the woman asked him if he would like a sexual act performed on him, police said. Officers outside then entered and arrested the two women, police said.
One of the women also received several citations including for operating a massage establishment without a license, employing an unlicensed massage therapist, not maintaining a proper log book and "allowing to expose," police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Lisa A. Argumedo, age 41, of the 4400 block of West Roscoe Street, and Nivea Ramos, age 24, of the 2500 block of North Pulaski Road.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that Cuenca’s Family Hair Salon, 4171 N. Milwaukee Ave., was robbed at about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 45-year-old woman reported that a man entered the store, displayed a gun, demanded that she open the register and took $100 in cash when she said that she did not know how to open it, according to police. A customer reported that he chased the man into the street and that an off-duty police officer saw the man run to a building in the 4900 block of West Berteau Avenue, but officers were not able to gain entry to the building, police said.
The man was described as white, age 45 to 50, 5-6 to 5-8 and 170 to 180 pounds, and wearing a black skullcap, a black jacket, a green scarf, black jeans and cowboy or construction boots.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at her home in the 4800 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 68-year-old woman reported that a man knocked on her door and asked to see her electricity bill because he was able to reduce her payments, according to police. The woman said that she let the man into the home and he distracted her by asking for a cup of water, and that after he left she discovered that her wallet containing $80 and a credit card was missing, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 30 to 35, 5-7 and 160 pounds.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in the 6100 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that after he changed lanes as he was driving west on Irving Park, the man passed him, stopped in front of him, got out of the car and swung a baseball bat at him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man broke into his home in the 5700 block of West Windsor Avenue at about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 45-year-old man reported that he heard a knock on the basement window and later a noise and that he discovered a man trying to gain entry to the home through a kitchen window, according to police. The man said that the intruder fled when he shouted at him, police said.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 25, 5-6 to 5-8 and 170 to 180 pounds, and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, a blue jacket and faded jeans.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6500 block of West Higgins Avenue was burglarized at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a window had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $300, a silver necklace valued at $1,100 and $250 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two men broke into a home in the 5100 block of North LaCrosse Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 44-year-old man reported that he saw two men kick in the front door of a home and stack household items on the front porch, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of North Meade Avenue was burglarized between 12:05 p.m. and 12:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home at 5:30 p.m. he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that two television sets, two iPods, a jewelry box with neck chains, two pairs of sandals and cologne were missing, according to police. The man said that his neighbor’s security camera shows two men entering and exiting the home through the rear door several times, police said.
One of the men was described as 5-6 to 5-9 and 150 to 170 pounds, and wearing a black skullcap, a black jacket and blue jeans. The other man was described as 5-6 to 5-9 and 150 to 170 pounds, and wearing a black skullcap, a black jacket and black pants.
A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 5500 block of North Mango Avenue was burglarized between 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and 9 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that the side door was open and that a coat, a jacket, gift cards, a sweater and an appliance valued at $725, and jewelry, a Bluetooth device and crafts valued at $330 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a catalytic converter was stolen from his 2003 Toyota Sequoia sport utility vehicle between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, and 2:45 p.m. the following day, while it was parked in the 5900 block of West Grace Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
