Local Crime from 16th District 12-6-17
TWO TEENAGE girls reported that two men attempted to lure them into their vehicle at about 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the 7100 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 15-year-old and 14-year-old teenagers reported that as they were crossing the street, the driver of a black pick-up truck stopped at a traffic light and waved them over to his vehicle and when they asked him what he wanted, he told them both several times to get into his vehicle and said, "Get in, you need a ride," and "Come sit here," before they both fled, according to police. The teenagers reported that there was a passenger in the vehicle but that he covered his face and did not make any comments, police said.
The driver was described as age 35 to 45 with balding brown hair, and the passenger was described as age 35 to 45 with brown hair.
A WOMAN reported that two men attempted to rob her at about 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, in the 6000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 54-year-old woman reported that while she was waiting for a bus, two men ran up to her and attempted to grab her purse and search through her pockets, and that after she ran across the street, the men ran away, according to police.
The men were described as Hispanic, age 20 to 25. One of the men was described as 5-5 to 5-8 and 120 to 130 pounds.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the 5100 block of West Cullom Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 61-year-old woman reported that as she walked past two men sitting on the front steps of a residence, the men ran toward her and grabbed her bag from her shoulder containing $480 in cash, her wallet, credit cards and driver’s license and ran away, according to police.
The men were described as white.
A TEENAGER was robbed and shot with a BB gun at about 10:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in the 3200 block of North Leclaire Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 14-year-old teenager reported that as he was walking by Foreman High School, 3235 N. Leclaire Ave., three men approached him, demanded his money and took $25 in cash from him, and that when he ran away one of the men shot him six times with a BB gun, according to police.
The teenager was transported to Loyola University Medical Center and treated for six minor puncture wounds, police said.
All three men were described as Hispanic, two of the men were described as thin and one man was described as heavy set.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly broke into a man’s garage and vehicle at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, in the 3200 block of North Newland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A witness reported that he saw a man exit his neighbor’s garage and that he approached the man and told him to remain seated on a park bench until the police arrived, according to police. The neighbor was told about the incident when police arrived and the man was arrested after the neighbor discovered that the man allegedly had searched through his vehicle inside his garage and took a set of vehicle keys and a garage door opener, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Jonathan R. Alvarado, age 27, of the 2200 block of North Nagle Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in the parking lot of the Norwood Park Senior Center, 5801 N. Natoma Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle, she discovered that the rear driver’s side door window had been broken and that her purse containing two savings passport books, a checkbook and $300 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3400 block of North Natchez Avenue was burglarized at about 7 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear glass patio door had been shattered and that three gold rings and $1,100 in cash were missing, according to police.
SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Stolen vehicles were reported in the 5900 block of North Miltimore Avenue, the 8100 block of West Addison Street, the 6100 block of North Meade Avenue, the 5000 block of North Newland Avenue, the 4500 block of North Moody Avenue, the 3500 block of North Orange Avenue, the 3900 block of North Ottawa Avenue, the 3300 block of North Oak Park Avenue, the 8500 block of West Gregory Street, the 5700 block of West Goodman Street and the 5000 block of West Cullom Avenue, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Jewel-Osco store, 4734 N. Cumberland Ave., at about 12:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that he saw the man take over-the-counter drugs and other merchandise valued at $639 and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Dave A. Bohne, age 37, of the 6800 block of South Honore Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was vandalized between 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, and 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the 3400 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his 2013 Mercedes-Benz, he discovered scratches all over the vehicle and that the front windshield, both headlights, both tail lights and the front grill of his vehicle had been damaged and that the logo medallion valued at $200 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his work vehicle was burglarized between Friday, Nov. 22, and Sunday, Nov. 24, while it was parked in the 5700 block of West Waveland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his work van he discovered that a window had been broken and that glass repair equipment valued at $12,000 was missing, according to police.
