Local Crime from 16th District 2-11-15
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to force her into his van at about 5:05 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in an alley in the 3600 block of North Nottingham Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 36-year-old woman reported that a man in a van drove up next to her, got out of the vehicle and asked her what time it was, according to police. The woman said that when she looked at her watch the man grabbed her by the arm and pulled her toward the passenger door, police said. The woman said that she pushed the man and that he fell to the ground and that she fled, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 40 and 6-0, and wearing a black jacket. The van was described as beige.
A WOMAN was arrested on drug charges at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the 4700 block of North Major Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Police received information that a woman allegedly was selling crack cocaine near Major and Lawrence avenues, and officers set up surveillance and saw a vehicle that matched the description in the information make a U-turn, according to police. The car was stopped and the woman was found to be driving without a license, and two bags containing about 3.7 grams of a substance suspected of being crack cocaine were found in her possession at the 25th (Grand Central) District station, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Sonia Reynoso, age 25, of the 4400 block of North Kedzie Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that two men took his gym bag at about 9:05 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, in the 5300 block of North Nagle Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old man reported that as he was unloading groceries in his driveway, two men approached and one of them took his gym bag containing a Rolex watch valued at $4,000 and a Macintosh laptop computer valued at $950, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5400 block of West Waveland Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a rear window was broken and that two iPads, tools, a laptop computer, 20 pieces of jewelry, four bracelets and a centennial coin were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her wallet was stolen at about 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Jefferson Park CTA terminal, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 44-year-old woman reported that a wallet containing her social security card, a state identification card and a Ventra bus card was missing from her purse, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his wallet was stolen at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Moretti’s Ristorante and Pizzeria, 6727 N. Olmsted Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that his wallet containing his driver’s license, a university identification card, a debit card, a passport and $60 in cash was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Austin Avenue was burglarized at about 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that a screw gun valued at $200, a hammer drill valued at $200 and 40 video games valued at $1,000 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3700 block of North Olcott Avenue was burglarized between 6:50 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door and window were broken and that a computer, earrings, a ring, $100 in Canadian bills, four necklaces, a bracelet, 10 pieces of jewelry, a digital video disc player, three wool coats, four credit cards and $2,600 in cash were missing, according to police.
SEVERAL thefts of wheels from Honda cars were reported between Feb. 2 and Feb. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
In the incidents the vehicles were left sitting on milk crates, according to police. Thefts were reported in the 5200 block of North Cicero Avenue, the 5400 block of North Luna Avenue, the 4800 block of North Major Avenue and the 4000 block of North Laporte Avenue, police said.
