Local Crime from 16th District 2-25-15
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the 5800 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old woman reported that a man grabbed her purse, knocked her to the ground and put a knee on her chest and then fled in a sport utility vehicle, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at her home in the 6100 block of West Dakin Street at about 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 70-year-old woman reported that she received a phone call from a woman who told her in Polish that her son and daughter-in-law were in an accident and that she needed $50,000 to get them out of jail, according to police. The woman said that she told the woman that she only had $7,000 in cash and that the woman said that a lawyer would pick up the money and she gave the money to a man who showed up at the door, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the 4000 block of North Lockwood Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 60-year-old man reported that three men punched him and that one of them took his wallet containing $50 in cash and his cell phone, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested on battery charges at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the 5000 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers conducted an investigation of a reported burglary on Feb. 20 saw a man who matched the description that was provided, and when they approached him he resisted arrest and fled, according to police. When officers attempted to place the man into custody he struggled with them with and struck one of them, and then grabbed a Taser from the other as she tried to deploy it before he was subdued, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Raul Andrade, age 28, of the 5000 block of West Roscoe Street.
SEVERAL THEFTS of catalytic converters were reported between Feb. 18 and Feb. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 4800 and 5400 blocks of West Berteau Avenue, the 4800 block of West Catalpa Avenue, the 5300 and 5500 blocks of West Hutchinson Street, the 5300 block of West Dakin Street, the 3700 block of North Lockwood Avenue and the 4400 block of North Lamon Avenue, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5900 block of West Foster Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the back door was open and that an iPhone and $4,100 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5100 block of North Mulligan Avenue was burglarized between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that jewelry and watches were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6200 block of North LaCrosse Avenue was burglarized between 11:45 a.m. and 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that four watches, a diamond bracelet, a gold ring, a gold chain and $30 to $50 in cash were missing, according to police.
RESIDENTS reported that their garages in the 5300 block of West Cullom Avenue, the 5400 block of West Wilson Avenue and the 5700 block of West Leland Avenue were painted with gang graffiti between Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Natchez Avenue was burglarized between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was unlocked and that a watch valued at $2,900 and a camera valued at $1,900 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Nagle Avenue was burglarized between 6:50 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was open and that a laptop computer and blank checks were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Nagle Avenue was burglarized between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the back door had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $1,400, $700 in cash, video game console controllers and four watches were missing, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Hooters restaurant, 8225 W. Higgins Ave., was burglarized between 4:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she arrived at the restaurant she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a safe had been cut open and $7,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
