Local Crime from 16th District 3-29-17
A COUPLE reported that they were robbed at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, in the 6300 block of West Berteau Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 76-year-old man and 70-year-old woman reported that a man driving a vehicle with three passengers drove next to them and that they exited the vehicle and approached them, according to police. The couple reported that the man had a handgun in the right pocket of his sweatshirt and took his cell phone valued at $600, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, in the 5600 block of West Pensacola Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 37-year-old man reported that while he was taking garbage to the alley, five men approached him and demanded his cell phone, and that one of the men displayed a handgun and took his LG4 cell phone valued at $300 before the men ran away, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her son was robbed at about 2:50 p.m. Friday, March 24, at Shabbona Park, 3415 N. Sayre Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that her 12-year-old son told her that two teenagers pushed him to the ground and took his cell phone valued at $370, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that a man threatened them with a handgun at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, in the 5100 block of West Henderson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 43-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman reported that while he was driving, he sounded his horn at a vehicle that was stopped and blocking traffic and the driver followed them and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at them, police said.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Ace Hardware store, 7230 W. Foster Ave., reported that a man cut her with a knife as he attempted to rob the business at about 8:05 p.m. Monday, March 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that as she was giving change to a man purchasing an uncut key the man grabbed her hair, pointed a knife at her, demanded money from the register and cut her, according to police. The woman reported that when she refused the man fled and drove away in a silver Kia Optima, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed and that his car was stolen at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, in the 8500 block of West Catherine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 47-year-old man reported that after he exited his 2006 gray Infiniti sedan, a man punched him and knocked him to the ground and took a set of keys from him and threw the keys to a second man and that the men entered his vehicle and drove away, police said.
WITNESSES reported that Gerber Collision and Glass, 5948 N. Northwest Hwy., was burglarized at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, March 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The witnesses reported that they saw a blue Toyota station wagon containing four men stop in front of the business and that one of the men exited the vehicle and used an unknown object to break a window to an overhead garage door, and entered the business along with two other men while one of the men stayed outside by the vehicle as a lookout, according to police. The witnesses reported that the three men exited the building and fled, police said.
An employee reported that he discovered a box of parts valued at $2,500 and tools valued at $2,500 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4200 block of North Mason Avenue was burglarized between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that $7,500 in cash, two Apple laptop computers valued at $1,800 and a box containing about $10,000 in jewelry were missing, according to police.
