Local Crime from 16th District 3-30-2016
A WOMAN reported that a man exposed himself at about 11:35 a.m. Monday, March 28, in the 5300 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 36-year-old woman reported that a man in a van told her to get into the van or to meet him at a local store and that when she walked by the store the man exposed his penis to her, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:15 a.m. Sunday, March 27, in the 5600 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man reported that as he was about to open the door to his home, a man pointed a gun to his head and took his backpack containing a bottle of Xanax, a bottle of methadone pills and $3,500 in cash, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 7:50 a.m. Sunday, March 27, in the 3900 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 29-year-old woman reported that as she was waiting for a bus, a man threatened to shoot her and demanded money, according to police. The woman said that she told the man that she did not have any money and that that they struggled when the man attempted to grab her cell phone, police said. The woman reported that the man punched her in the face and the body and fled without the phone, police said.
A REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26, in the 3200 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 52-year-old man reported that as he was waiting for a taxicab after a night of drinking, a man in a car stopped and asked him if he needed a ride, according to police. The man said that he entered the vehicle and that after a few minutes the man pointed a knife to his throat and took his wallet containing credit cards and $70 in cash, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 7:55 p.m. Friday, March 25, in the 6300 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun and took his cell phone and $13 cash, according to police.
TWO MEN WERE arrested on drugs and weapons violation charges at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, in the 6300 block of West Balmoral Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An off-duty police officer reported that he saw a man drinking alcohol in the public way and get into a vehicle as a passenger, according to police. The officer said that when he approached the vehicle, the man emptied the contents of a bag that appeared to be powdered cocaine, police said. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested after officers found a briefcase containing 23 grams of a substance suspected of being marijuana and a BB gun pistol, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Ramiro Cazares, age 20, of the 6100 block of West Barry Avenue, and Xavier Cruz Jr., age 21, of the 2900 block of Elder Lane, Franklin Park.
THE OWNER of Archie’s Coins, 5516 W. Devon Ave., reported that the business was burglarized at about 5:05 a.m. Saturday, March 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The owner reported that a video surveillance tape showed a man break into through the roof and enter the store but that he did not know what was missing, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of Ideal Bakery, 4765 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported that the business had been burglarized between 3 a.m. and 4:50 a.m. Saturday, March 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the front-door window was broken and that a cash register containing $500 was missing, according to police.
