Local Crime from 16th District 4-22-15
A MAN WAS charged with battery to a police officer following his arrest at about 1:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, in the 3600 block of North Pittsburgh Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded twice to a disturbance caused by men drinking alcohol in a yard and shouting, and the second time one of the men threatened them and then charged them, according to police. An officer disabled the man twice with a Taser, and he was arrested, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Bryan Ofenloch, age 24, of the 4300 block of North Avers Avenue.
THREE MEN and a teenager were arrested at about 6 p.m. Monday, April 20, after they allegedly defaced a garage in the 5800 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The suspects were identified by police as Xavier Marin, age 20, of the 3000 block of North Menard Avenue, Martin Bahena, age 21, of the 2700 block of Adler Drive, Plainfield, Daniel Marin, age 18, of the 800 block of Hinman Avenue, Aurora, and a 15-year-old teenager.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:20 a.m. Monday, April 20, in the 4900 block of West Warner Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 30-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun and took his wallet containing credit cards and his cell phone, then fled in a blue Geo Tracker containing three other men, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:20 a.m. Sunday, April 19, in the 3900 block of North Lavergne Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 58-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the head and took his backpack, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that shots were fired at about 4 a.m. Sunday, April 19, in the 5500 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A security guard at Taco Burrito King, 5509 N. Harlem Ave., reported that he heard two gunshots and that when he went to investigate he saw a man flee in a vehicle, according to police. A surveillance video shows the man fire a gun and bullets striking a parked vehicle, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 7:50 a.m. Saturday, April 18, in the 5100 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 67-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the head and took his keys, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that two men entered her home in the 5800 block of West Eddy Street at about 4 p.m. Friday, April 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 85-year-old woman reported that a man rang her doorbell and told her that he was with the city water department and needed to check her water pipes and she let him into the home, according to police. The woman said that she went with the man to the bathroom, then heard a noise and a saw a second man going to the basement, and that when she confronted them they fled, police said.
THREE MEN were arrested on mob action charges following an incident at about 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the 3400 block of North Long Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report of a gang disturbance at Chopin Park where residents reported that three men were displaying gang sings and blocking the sidewalk while holding a memorial for a gang member, according to police. Officers found men who matched the description that was provided nearby, and they were arrested, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Christian Delatorre, age 25, of the 6300 block of North Spokane Avenue, Eric Torres, age 24, of the 4900 block of West Cullom Avenue, and James Alvarez, age 25, of the 4800 block of West Patterson Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in the 3300 block of North Linder Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 55-year-old woman reported that as she was walking with a 22-year-old woman, a man rode up on a bicycle and took a pendant from her neck, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Burger King restaurant, 4123 N. Milwaukee Ave., was burglarized at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that when he arrived at the business he discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4400 block of North Central Avenue was burglarized between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a front window was open and that checks, a silver necklace, miscellaneous jewelry, a dress shirt and an electric helicopter were missing, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested on burglary charges following incidents at about 1:40 p.m. Monday, April 20, in the 5100 block of West Irving Park Road and at about 2:30 p.m. the same day in the 4200 block of North LeClaire Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that witnesses told him that a man was in his vehicle that was parked on Irving Park Road and that he confronted the man, who took a bag containing a car manual and insurance papers from his car and fled, according to police. A woman reported that she saw a man in her vehicle on LeClaire, and officers arrested him after they found that he had two wallets, a cooler, a car charger, a flashlight, a wedding ring and a global positioning system device that did not belong to him, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Dean A. Lutzer, age 25, of the 4000 block of North Leamington Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 4100 block of North LeClaire Avenue was burglarized between 10 p.m. Friday, April 17, and 6:30 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the side door was unlocked and that about $3,000 worth of tools were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5800 block of West Higgins Avenue was burglarized between 4:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Saturday, April 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that two laptop computers, a Play Station video game console and cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a home in the 5800 block of West Eddy Street was burglarized between 5 p.m. Monday, April 14, and 8 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a home that is being rehabbed was burglarized and that two furnaces valued at $2,400, sheet metal valued at $1,000 and an air conditioning unit valued at $1,500 were missing, according to police.
