Local Crime from 16th District 4-27-2016
THREE MEN were arrested after they allegedly attacked two men at about 7:35 p.m. Sunday, April 24, in the 3600 block of North Nora Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report of several people fighting arrested two men after a man identified them and a substance suspected of being marijuana and a knife were discovered in the vehicle they were in, according to police.
A 35-year-old man reported that he saw three men in the alley and that when he told them that they should leave, one of them punched and kicked him and a second man stabbed him in the back, according to police. A 50-year-old man reported that when he attempted to intervene in the fight, a third man punched him, police said. A third suspect was arrested nearby, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Ramon Flores, age 19, of the 2400 block of North Meade Avenue, Mario Martinez, age 19, of the 3700 block of North Nora Avenue, and Giovanni Corona, age 19, of the 3700 block of North Nora Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:10 p.m. Sunday, April 24, on a CTA bus in the 4000 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 45-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the face and took his bus pass, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at gunpoint at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in an alley in the 4000 block of North Major Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that he was driving in the alley with a man that he had met through Facebook and that the man saw two men in the alley and told him to drive toward them, according to police. The man said that the men displayed handguns and took his wallet containing $140, his driver’s license and a credit cards, and that the man he was with got out of the vehicle and fled, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the 5000 block of North Cumberland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 29-year-old woman reported that her former boyfriend displayed a knife, slapped her, pushed her to the ground and took $668 from her, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man stole his car at gunpoint at about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the 5600 block of West Waveland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that as he was standing behind his 2004 Acura, a man rode up on a bicycle, displayed a handgun, demanded his car keys and drove away in his car, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 17 to 19, 5-6 to 5-8 and 140 to 150 pounds, and wearing a dark sweatshirt. The man’s description matches that of a man involved in similar vehicle hijackings on the Northwest Side, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5100 block of North Mason Avenue was burglarized between 8 p.m. Sunday, April 24, and 6:50 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the garage window had been broken and that tools valued at about $3,650, skis valued at $1,300 and a bicycle valued at $1,300 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man took items from his car at about 5 a.m. Saturday, April 23, while it was in the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, 6408 W. Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 63-year-old man reported that as he was in the restaurant, he saw a man enter his car and take his lunchbox, his cell phone and his checkbook, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that copper pipes were stolen from a foreclosed home in the 6300 block of West Addison Street between 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, and 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that copper piping valued at $1,500 was stolen from the basement of the house, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5200 block of West Grace Street was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was open and that three television sets valued at $600, three tablets valued at $600 and $300 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the hood of his 2014 Jeep Cherokee valued at $3,500 was stolen between 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, and 4:30 a.m. the following day, while the car was parked in the 6000 block of West Gunnison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
SEVERAL thefts of vehicles were reported between April 17 and April 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 4300 block of North Central Avenue, the 5300 block of North Northwest Highway, the 7700 block of West Belmont Avenue, the 4900 block of West Addison Street, the 5200 block of West Argyle Avenue and the 6600 block of North Northwest Highway, according to police.
Also, in the 6200 block of West Grace Street, the 3900 block of North Linder Avenue, the 5400 block of West Windsor Avenue, the 5700 block of West Dakin Street and the 5900 block of West School Street, police said.
