Local Crime from 16th District 4-6-2016

A former Taft High School student was fatally shot in a suspected gang-related incident at about 1:10 p.m. Monday, April 4, in the parking lot of the Taco Burrito King restaurant, 5509 N. Harlem Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A surveillance video shows a white vehicle enter the lot and park next to a black Hyundai, and that two men got out of the vehicle and entered the Hyundai, according to police. The teenager was pushed out of the driver’s seat, and one of the men fled in the teen’s car and the other drove away in the white car, police said. The teenager was attending Ombudsman High School on the Northwest Side, according to police.
The teenager, who was identified by police as Anthony Heatherly, age 17, of the 5700 block of North Kingsdale Avenue, was pronounced dead at Lutheran General Hospital of a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 8 a.m. Sunday, April 3, in an alley in the 6200 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 52-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the head and took his cell phone and $13 in cash, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:40 a.m. Thursday, March 31, in the 3500 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that he drove next to a vehicle that was being driven erratically told the driver that he was putting people in danger, and that the man got out of the car, grabbed his waistband implying that he had a gun, punched him in the head and took his cell phone, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 8:45 p.m. Monday, March 28, in the 4900 block of West Pensacola Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 37-year-old woman reported that a silver sport utility vehicle drove up next to her and that two men got out of the car, pushed her to the ground, punched her in the head and body and took her cell phone, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5300 block of North Lotus Avenue was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that tools valued at $20,000 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that money was stolen from her home in the 4800 block of West Roscoe Street between March 28 and April 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that $3,800 in cash was missing from the home, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5100 block of West Montrose Avenue was burglarized between 8 p.m. Saturday, March 26, and 8 p.m. Saturday, April 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that copper pipes and a box containing electronics were missing, according to police.
TWO MEN WERE arrested on burglary charges following an incident at about 1:10 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at a home in the Edgebrook area, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An off-duty police officer reported that two men broke into his home and that when they saw him they fled to their car, but that he prevented them from leaving until officers arrived, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Aaron C. Shelton, age 19, of the 700 block of Longwood Drive, Algonquin, and Montez C. King, age 18, of the 100 block of Tee Road, Carpentersville.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6500 block of North Northwest Highway was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that two bracelets, three rings and a necklace were missing, according to police.
THEFTS OF vehicles were reported between March 29 and April 4 on the Northwest Side, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 5100 block of West Hutchinson Street, the 6300 block of West Huntington Street, the 6100 block of West Montrose Avenue, the 6200 block of North Naper Avenue, the 5100 block of North Menard Avenue, the 4300 block of North Mobile Avenue, the 7700 block of West Addison Street, the 5100 block of West Cullom Avenue and the 7800 block of West Forest Preserve Drive, according to police.
