Local Crime from 16th District 5-11-2016
A 15-YEAR-OLD girl reported that she was sexually assaulted at about 5 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the 5500 block of West Balmoral Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The girl reported that a man forced her into an alley, pinned her against a garage, bit her on the neck and fondled her breasts and crotch area, according to police. The girl said that the man ran away when she screamed, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic or black with a light complexion, age 20 to 25 and 140 to 160 pounds, with a shoehorn-shaped scar over his right eyebrow and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, khaki shorts and running shoes.
AN OFF-DUTY police officer reported that a man threatened him at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 9, in the 6200 block of North Oriole Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The officer reported that as he was watching a soccer game at Edison Park, a man got out of a car, approached a group of boys and asked them if they wanted to gamble or if they had any money, according to police. The officer said that when he approached the man, he became aggressive and threatened him, police said. The officer reported that three other men got out of the car and approached him but that they fled in the car when a uniformed officer arrived, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8, in the 4300 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 61-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the face and took his wallet containing credit cards and his cell phone, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly threatened a police officer at about 11:35 a.m. Saturday, May 7, in the 7500 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An off-duty officer reported that when he sounded his horn because two vehicles were blocking an intersection, a man got out of a car, shouted at him and threatened him, according to police. The officer drove away and the man followed him, and responding offices arrested him, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Martin J. Graham, age 50, of the 3300 block of North Oleander Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that that her car was stolen at gunpoint during a robbery at about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, May 7, in the 3500 block of North Nora Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 71-year-old woman reported that two men approached her and that one of them displayed a handgun, took her purse containing her cell phone valued at $400, 15 debit and credit cards, a passport and $600 in cash, and drove away in her 2014 Nissan Rogue, according to police.
TWO MEN reported that a man broke into a home into the 4800 block of North Nottingham Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The men, age 60 and 43, reported that a man knocked on a door and that when there was no answer, he walked to the side of the property and forced his way inside, according to police. One of the men attempted to remove the car keys from the man’s vehicle and that the intruder swung a tire iron at the man and fled, police said. The owner of the home reported that a bracelet was missing, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 5316 N. Milwaukee Ave., was robbed at about 1:40 a.m. Friday, May 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 29-year-old woman reported that a man entered the store, implied that he had a gun and took $80 from the cash register, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her purse was stolen at about 4 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the 3200 block of North Major Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 81-year-woman reported that a man approached her and took her purse containing her cell phone and $45 in cash, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that she was robbed at about 4 p.m. Monday, May 2, at the Jefferson Park CTA terminal, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 17-year-old girl reported that a man attempted to take her purse, and that when she resisted, the man grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground and that three women kicked her in the head and the body and took the purse containing a bus pass, her cell phone and $150 in cash, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Shell gas station, 4001 N. Laramie Ave., was robbed at about 11:05 p.m. Sunday, May 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 37-year-old man reported that a man selected some items and put them on the counter, and that a second man entered the store and displayed a gun and the two took $900 in cash and about 30 packs of cigarettes, according to police.
