Local Crime from 16th District 5-13-15
TWO VEHICLES were reported stolen in the 5100 block of West Windsor Avenue Sunday, May 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A woman reported at 4 p.m. that her 2012 Kia Soul was missing from where she parked it on the street, and a man reported at 6:25 p.m. that as he approached his home he saw a man driving away in his 2011 Chevrolet Silverado which had been parked in the garage, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that another teen threatened him with a knife at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in the parking lot of Saint Thecla Church, 6725 W. Devon Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teen reported that a 15-year-old acquaintance approached him with a group of teens and threatened him with a knife, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3400 block of North Pontiac Avenue was burglarized at about 2 a.m. Saturday, May 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 18-year-old woman reported that she had a gathering at her home and that she received a phone call the following day from the Norridge Police Department informing her that three men who had been taken into custody were in possession of an iPhone valued at $200, a purse valued at $400, $26 in cash and debit and credit cards that belonged to her and to a 23-year-old man, according to police.
Information on the identity of the suspects was not available.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly choked his girlfriend at about 12:05 a.m. Saturday, May 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 44-year-old woman reported that during an argument her boyfriend choked her, according to police. The woman had red marks around her neck when officers arrived, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Bosko Romanic, age 44, of the 7400 block of North Harlem Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to steal his delivery vehicle at about 3 a.m. Thursday, May 7, in the 3300 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 28-year-old man reported that after he got out of the vehicle to make a delivery, a man entered it and attempted to drive it away, according to police. The driver said that the man seemed unfamiliar with how to operate a commercial vehicle and that he entered the vehicle through the passenger door and struck the man in the face with a fire extinguisher, police said.
The driver reported that the man attempted to stab him with a pocketknife before he fled, police said.
A MAN WAS charged with a parole violation following his arrest at about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in the 6900 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers saw a man loitering in the park with two known gang members, and the man was arrested after it was discovered that he was violating the conditions of his parole, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Angel Castro, age 19, of the 3000 block of North Neva Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a peeping tom at about 9:40 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in the 4100 block of North Marmora Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old woman reported that a witness told her that he saw a man watching her through a vented glass block window as she was taking a shower, according to police. The witness reported that he attempted to confront the man before he fled the scene, police said.
A MAN WAS charged with possession of cocaine following his arrest at about 10 a.m. Thursday, May 7, in the 3500 block of North Austin Boulevard, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers stopped a vehicle that was using an alley as a thoroughfare, and the driver was arrested after the officers discovered a bag containing cocaine in his hand, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Albert Santana, age 38, of the 2300 block of North Menard Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5400 block of North Nagle Avenue was burglarized at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear basement door had been knocked off its hinges and that jewelry valued at $3,000 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5900 block of West Foster Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 11:20 p.m. Saturday, May 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been broken in and that jewelry valued at $1,000 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 4100 block of North Melvina Avenue was burglarized between 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, and 9 a.m. Sunday, May 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the garage window was broken and that a Miller welding machine and a Stanley battery charger valued at a total of $700 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 4100 block of North Mango Avenue was burglarized at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the lock on the side door of the garage was broken and that various tools valued at $3,590, a vacuum cleaner valued at $260 and two gas containers valued at $60 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5500 block of North Natoma Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, and 6:45 a.m. Thursday, May 7, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the side door of the garage had been broken in and that three bicycles and a set of cooking pots were missing, according to police.
