A MAN WAS shot in a possible gang-related incident at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in the 3500 block of North Linder Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man reported that he was walking north on Linder listening to music when a vehicle drove by and he felt a sharp pain, ran north to Addison and discovered that he had a bullet graze wound to his upper right arm and called a relative to drive him to Community First Medical Center, according to police. The man was uncooperative with officers, police said.

SHOTS were fired at about 2:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, on North Cumberland Avenue near the off-ramp of the Kennedy Expressway, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that he was driving his Honda Civic inbound on the expressway when a man in a dark-colored Nissan Sentra cut him off near the junction of I-294 and I-90, and he believed the driver may have been drunk and followed him off at the Cumberland exit to get license plate information for officers, according to police.
The man reported that on Cumberland the Nissan made a quick U-turn and drove back onto the Kennedy and he heard several pops that he believed were thrown bottles until a state police officer later pointed out at least three bullet holes on the passenger side of the his Honda, police said.
The man was described as white and with a bearded. A female may have also been in the passenger seat of Nissan.

A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening another driver with a gun at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, in the 4700 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that he was driving when a man driving a red Ford Focus south on Central pointed a revolver at him, and officers stopped a vehicle matching a description in the 3500 block of North Menard Avenue for an expired license plate and arrested the driver after he was identified, according to police.
Officers were unable to recover a weapon from the vehicle, but the other man allegedly showed officers a cellphone recording of the man flashing the handgun, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Cedrick Coenic, age 31, of the 600 block of North Mayfield Avenue.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, in the 5900 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was retrieving her pain medication and cigarettes from her vehicle and that when she dropped her lighter and bent over to pick it up a man approached from behind, put a knife to her neck, demanded her belongings and took her cigarette pack and about 60 hydrocodone painkiller pills, and the woman was later treated at Amita Health Resurrection Medical Center for a small cut to her neck, according to police.

A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at knifepoint at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, in an apartment building in the 8500 block of West Catherine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The teenager reported that he was meeting a female acquaintance at her apartment and that when she let him in an unknown male held a knife to his waist, slapped his face and stole his cellphone, his driver’s license, his house keys and a gray hooded sweatshirt before the male and female ran back upstairs, according to police.
The male was described as white/ Hispanic, age 16 to 18, about 6-0, with facial hair and tattooed letters on his left hand, and wearing a baseball hat and a light green hooded sweatshirt. The female was described as white, age 15, and heavyset.

OFFICERS recovered a handgun after chasing a teenager at about 8 p.m. Sunday, May 12, in the 6200 block of West Gunnison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers received information that a teenager was in possession of a handgun near a red vehicle on Gunnison and saw a group of males standing by a red vehicle, and when officers exited the squad car one male dropped a loaded 9mm handgun and ran into a house, and officers entered the home, were unable to find the teen inside and left after the residents protested the officers’ actions, according to police.
The male was described as white/ Hispanic, age 16, 5-5 and 120 pounds, with brown eyes, long black hair and multiple tattoos.

AN EMPLOYEE of the Dollar Tree store, 3232 N. Harlem Ave., reported that a woman attacked him at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that he saw a woman conceal bars of soap in a baby stroller, and that when he blocked the exit path and asked, "Are you going to pay for the soap?" she repeatedly said "I’m not stealing" and punched him numerous times in the head before she fled east across Harlem, and he was transported to Community First Medical Center for a head laceration, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was threatened at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the 5400 block of West Hutchinson Street near Portage Park School, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he picked up his kids from the school and they were sitting in the vehicle when two men walked past him and one man cursed at his daughter, and that when he confronted the man the man shoved him in the chest and threatened to kill him and that he took photos of his vehicle before the men walked away west on Hutchinson and south on Menard Avenue, according to police.
One of the men was described as black/Hispanic, age 19, approximately 6-1 and 160 pounds, with brown eyes, medium-length black hair, and wearing a red sweater and blue jeans.

A TEENAGER was arrested for allegedly stealing wheels and being in possession of a stolen vehicle at about 1:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, in the 5000 block of West Pensacola Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a theft in progress and saw two males removing wheels from a vehicle and loading them into a silver Honda CRV and the two males started running after noticing them and one male was caught and detained in an alley of the 4300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to police.
The male was arrested after a resident showed police a video recording of the males removing wheels, and officers recovered wheels, lug nuts, and tools from the Honda and discovered that the vehicle itself was stolen, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 16-year-old male. The other man was described as white/ Hispanic, age 20 to 25.

A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly breaking into a home in the 7600 block of West Foster Avenue at about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A female reported that she was home when she heard a voice say "hello, hello" and the door slammed and she looked through the window and saw an unknown man walking across their driveway carrying her relative’s orange baseball bat and the man was arrested after he was identified on signed complaints, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jeffrey Kosatka, age 54, of the 900 block of West Hollywood Avenue.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at her home in the 6600 block of West Catalpa Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was outside with her dog when a black Ford Edge sport utility vehicle drove into her driveway and the male passenger exited and offered to repair her concrete, led her to the side of the house and discussed estimates for about 15 minutes before they left, and that when she returned inside she discovered that an unknown amount of jewelry and cash was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was the victim of a scam at his home in the 6000 block of West School Street at about 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he was doing work in the backyard when two men approached and one man said he would be doing work in the rear alley while the other man would assist him with his yard work, and that when he finished the yard work he returned inside and discovered that $3,000 in cash was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 6000 block of West Gunnison Street was burglarized and multiple firearms were stolen between Monday, April 15, and 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the bedroom side window was open, and that a .22-caliber assault rifle valued at $500, a .40-caliber handgun valued at $200, a black shotgun valued at $300, a projector valued at $2,000, 15 watches valued at $150 total, $600 in cash and $375 in change were missing, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE of Saint Juliana School, 7400 W. Touhy Ave., reported that a man trespassed on the property between 7 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Friday, May 10, and on multiple prior occasions, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that he has prohibited the man in the past from all Saint Juliana property for "inappropriate contacts" with school children and other school and church personnel during Mass and recess periods, and that the man returned again on May 10 and said that he will return "whenever he likes" in the future, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 59, approximately 5-6 and 175 pounds, with brown eyes and short part-gray hair.

A WOMAN reported that a woman tried to steal her jewelry at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in the 5300 block of North Mobile Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was walking to her vehicle when a white sport utility vehicle with two men and two women and a child approached, and the woman in the rear passenger-side asked "where is the hospice center?" and then said "today is my mother’s birthday" and placed two rings in her hand and a necklace around her neck, according to police.
The woman reported that as this interaction proceeded she noticed that her own necklace, valued at about $2,000 was removed from her neck and laying on the SUV’s windowsill, and when she yelled "give me my chain" the SUV drove away and she was able to retrieve the necklace that fell to the ground, police said.

TWO MEN reported that they heard a man break into their apartment in the 6900 block of West Belmont Avenue at about 2 a.m. Monday, May 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
One man reported that he was in the bathroom when he heard a person walk through their apartment, while another man reported he was sleeping when he heard a person enter his bedroom and flick the lights on and off before the bedroom door shut again, and they later discovered that two wristwatches valued at $210, a pair of ear buds valued at $200 and $30 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3700 block of North Neva Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. Saturday, May 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered the rear doorframe was damaged and that jewelry valued at about $9,000 was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3300 block of North New England Avenue was burglarized between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered the side doorframe was damaged and that an envelope containing $600 in cash was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that gas was siphoned from his vehicle between 7 p.m. Sunday, May 5, and 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, in the 4800 block of West Hutchinson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his truck he discovered that a full tank of gas valued at about $65 was emptied, according to police.

SEVERAL stolen vehicles were reported between 3 p.m. Monday, May 6, and 7 a.m. Sunday, May 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Vehicles were reported stolen in the 5000 block of North Moody Avenue, the 5400 block of North East River Road, the 5400 block of West Hutchinson Street, the 6100 block of West Higgins Avenue and a non-residential parking lot in the 8600 block of West Catalpa Avenue, according to police.

SEVERAL vehicles were reported burglarized between May 6 and 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Vehicular burglaries were reported in the 4800 block of West Lawrence Avenue, the 5200 block of West Melrose Street, the 5300 block of North Normandy Avenue, the 5700 block of West Berenice Avenue, the 5800 block of West Grace Street and the 8300 block of West Summerdale Avenue, according to police.
