Local Crime from 16th District 5-6-20
A MAN WAS shot at about 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 1, in the alley in the 4800 block of West Waveland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that he was walking in the alley when a man approached him, pointed a gun and demanded money, according to police. The man reported that he attempted to grab the gun from the man and a struggle ensued, causing the gun to discharge and he suffered a graze wound to the right thigh and a gunshot wound to the right foot, police said. The man reported that the man then fled to a maroon vehicle with tinted windows, according to police.
The shooter was described as white, age 20 to 25, 5-8, 150 pounds, with green eyes and short blonde hair.
A WOMAN reported that she was attacked at about 6:35 a.m. Friday, May 1, in the alley in the 6500 block of North Neva Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she went to throw garbage out in the alley when a black Chevrolet sedan drove up and a man got out and said, "Hey baby," then grabbed the woman’s shirt and pushed her, according to police. The woman reported that the man then got back in his car and fled north on Harlem Avenue.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 30, 5-7 and 260 pounds with medium length black hair.
A MAN REPORTED that he was threatened with a weapon during an apparent road rage incident at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the 7000 block of West Foster Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that he was driving west on Higgins Avenue from Harlem Avenue when a man driving a blue Honda Odyssey cut him off in traffic and slammed on the brakes, according to police. The man reported that he drove his vehicle to a parking lot in the 7000 block of Foster, where the man followed him and exited his vehicle with a collapsible baton and started swinging it in the man’s direction while he remained seated in his vehicle, police said. The 22-year-old man reported that the man then opened the passenger side of his vehicle and asked if he wanted to be shot, then fled the parking lot in his van, according to police. A witness reported that they saw the man swinging the baton toward the vehicle, police said
The man was described as white, age 40 to 49, 6-0 and 200 pounds, with long blond hair.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was shot several times at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, after two vehicles opened fire at each other while she was driving in the 5200 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old woman reported that she was driving south on North Cicero Avenue, approaching Foster Avenue, when she witnessed a Chevrolet Suburban and a Nissan sedan exchanging gunfire as they passed her vehicle, according to police. The woman reported that she was not injured but when she returned home she discovered bullet holes in her vehicle, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that two men broke into his apartment in the 5000 block of West Patterson Avenue at about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he went to the store while his daughter stayed at home, and moments after he left, his daughter reported hearing loud noises from the front door and two masked men entered the apartment and asked, "Where is your father?" to which she replied, "Not home," according to police.
The daughter reported that one of the men ransacked the apartment, focusing on her father’s bedroom, while the second man held her in her father’s office with a gun displayed, police said. The man reported that the men took his daughter’s cell phone and approximately $6,000 in cash was missing, according to police. Officers reported that a neighbor provided surveillance footage of two masked men entering and later exiting the premises and then entering a newer model black Volvo station wagon, before they fled west on Patterson, police said.
The men were described as white/ Hispanic, age 20 to 30. One of the men was described as 5-4. The other man was described as 5-10.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4800 block of West Henderson Street was burglarized between 1 and 6:25 p.m. Saturday, May 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered damage to the front door and $250 in cash, $6,000 in jewelry and one ounce of marijuana were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4000 block of North Leclaire Avenue was burglarized at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was doing laundry in the building and when she returned to her apartment she discovered a woman going through drawers in her bedroom and confronted her, according to police. The woman reported that the woman then bumped into her as she ran out of the apartment down the rear stairs with the woman’s purse containing $3,000 in cash and $10,000 in jewelry, police said.
The woman was described as white, age 25 to 35, 5-8 and 120 pounds.
