Local Crime from 16th District 5-7-14
A TEENAGER reported that a man attempted to abduct her at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, in the 6300 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 13-year-old girl reported that a man asked her if she needed a ride home and that when she ignored him, the man demanded that she get into his car, according to police. The girl said that the man fled when she retrieved her cell phone to call police, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, at her home in the 5300 block of North Natoma Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 79-year-old woman reported that she received a phone call from a man who claimed to be her relative and asked her for $10,000 for bail, according to police. The woman said when she told him she had only $2,000, he sent a woman to her house to collect the money, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him with a gun at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in the 6400 block of West Balmoral Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that while he was stopped at a stop sign, a man approached him and accused him of selling a defective car to his cousin, and that the man who he sold that car to then approached and displayed a handgun, according to police. The man said he drove away in reverse and that he later received a phone call from the man with the gun demanding that he return the $1,700 he gave him for the car but that he refused, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:50 p.m. Monday, April 28, at the Marriott Chicago O’Hare Hotel, 8535 W. Higgins Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 59-year-old man reported that he ordered an escort from an escort service and that when a woman arrived at his room, a man entered with her and they demanded money, according to police. The man said he gave them $300 and the man told him he was under arrest for prostitution unless he gave them more money, and that when he returned to the room with an additional $400 in cash, the two took it along with his laptop computer and his cell phone and fled, police said.
A TEENAGER reported that he was attacked and robbed at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in the parking lot of the BP gas station, 6350 W. Montrose Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 17-year-old teen reported that a man approached him and began talking to him and that another man got out of a car and punched him in the face, knocking him down, according to police. The teen said that the men began kicking him and that one of them stole his cell phone valued at $500, chips, pop and cigarettes, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked and robbed at about 11:05 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in the 4900 block of West Cuyler Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that two women invited him to their apartment to help them with something, and that once he got to the apartment, one of the women hit him on the head with a bottle and the other woman displayed a knife and the two took $248 from him, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that three men stole items from the 7-Eleven store, 5316 N. Milwaukee Ave., at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that three men entered the store, grabbed three bottles of alcohol and left the store without paying for the items, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 2, in the garage of her home in the 4100 block of North Major Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 34-year-old woman reported that a man searing a mask entered the garage and approached her, and that he fled when she picked up a baton and started swinging at him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday, May 4, in the alley of the 6200 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that while he was standing outside a club, a man got out of a car and struck him on the head with a baseball bat, according to police. The man said another man pushed the attacker away from him, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5300 block of West Cullom Avenue was burglarized at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home, he discovered that a 42-inch television set, a tablet computer, a digital camera, designer clothes, perfume, miscellaneous jewelry and $300 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5700 block of North Major Avenue was burglarized between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a bedroom window was open and that a game console, a laptop computer, two gold rings, a chain, a tool box and two bicycles were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 7600 block of West Addison Street was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home, she discovered that a side window was broken and that miscellaneous jewelry and a purse were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 3600 block of North Neva Avenue was burglarized between 10 p.m. Sunday, May 4, and 2 a.m. Monday, the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the overhead door was open and that two tool chests valued at $600, a tool box valued at $900, three speakers valued at $500 and an amplifier valued at $200 were missing, according to police.
