Local Crime from 16th District 7-30-14
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly stole a boy’s bicycle at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, in the 5500 block of West Edmunds Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 12-year-old boy reported that he and his friends were selling lemonade and that the man approached them, pushed him down and took the bicycle, which was parked next to the lemonade stand, according to police. The boy said that when his friends saw the man at Jefferson Park the next day, his father asked for the bicycle, police said. He said that the man grabbed and punched his father and that people in the park called police, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Robert T. Gonzales, age 29, of the 4500 block of West Carmen Avenue.
TWO MEN WERE arrested after they allegedly stole tools from a van at about 3:50 a.m. Friday, July 25, in the 3300 block of North Narragansett Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that he saw two men get out of a van, break into a parked van, remove tools and place the tools in their van, according to police. Officers found a van that matched the description that was provided in the 3200 block of Narragansett, and the owner of the tools identified the items, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as James Robinson, age 52, of the 8400 block of South Manistee Avenue, and Marvin Allen, age 44, of the 500 block of North Springfield Avenue.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly attacked a police officer at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in the 4300 block of North Mason Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 39-year-old off-duty officer reported that he saw a man screaming and tossing garbage cans, and that when he approached the man, he struck him multiple times and attempted to bite his neck and face, according to police. A witness said that when he went to help the officer, the man grabbed his arm and bit him, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Todd Goodman, age 36, of the 3200 block of North Olcott Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that gunshots were fired at her car at about 6:50 a.m. Monday, July 28, while it was parked in the 5700 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she found the driver’s-side window of the car broken and a projectile behind the driver’s seat, and that when she returned to the car later she heard popping sounds and pellets striking a tree and saw an upstairs window of a nearby building being closed, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:50 a.m. Sunday, July 27, in the 5100 block of West School Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that a man grabbed his iPhone 5S valued at $600 and fled in a car, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man attempted to rob the Healthy Pulse Anna herbal pharmacy, 5851 W. Irving Park Road, at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that a man entered the store, demanded money, shoved her to the floor and fled, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the Trinity Lutheran Church, 5106 N. La Crosse Ave., was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, and 10 p.m. Saturday, July 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the door to the music room was open and that about $4,700 worth of audio equipment and other items were missing, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that items were stolen from the T-Mobile store, 4809 W. Irving Park Road, at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday, July 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that two men entered the store, grabbed $2,000 worth of merchandise, and ran out of the store, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4000 block of North Mango Avenue was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the back door was open and that several electrical tools valued at $700 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her mother’s truck was burglarized at about 4:10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, in the 5300 block of North Lotus Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she saw a man break the passenger-side window of the truck with a hammer and that two other men helped the man remove construction tools from the truck and all three men fled in a car, according to police.
