Local Crime from 16th District 8-23-17
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 6000 W. Higgins Ave., was robbed at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a man walked into the store and pointed a knife at him, demanded cash and cigarettes and took a pack of cigarettes and $300 in cash, according to police.
The man was described as white, 180 to 200 pounds, and wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt with black striped sleeves and a black face bandana.
EMPLOYEES reported that the 7-Eleven store, 6200 N. Sayre Ave., was robbed at about 3:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old and 34-year-old male employees reported that a man walked into the store and pointed a knife at them and told one of them to lie on the floor, according to police. The 34-year-old man reported that he handed the man $25 in cash from the register and that the man fled, police said.
The man was described as 5-11 and 185 pounds, and wearing an orange sweatshirt with a white hood covering the face.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening a man with a gun at about 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the 4500 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 33-year-old man reported that as he was driving near the intersection of Montrose and Meade, he reduced his speed and saw that a driver in a vehicle behind him drove up next to him and pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot him, according to police. Officers discovered a car on Central Avenue based on a description and the man was arrested, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Oscar Montesdeoca, age 28, of the 4300 block of North Moody Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 12:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, in the 6800 block of West Raven Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 18-year-old woman reported that as she was walking a man walked up to her with a black rifle and demanded her belongings, took her phone and purse before he fled in the back seat of a small four-door vehicle containing to men, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the 3500 block of North Long Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that two men approached him and pointed guns at him and one of them took his cell phone and red backpack, according to police. The man reported that he saw a third man serving as a lookout for the two men with handguns, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in the 6500 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 67-year-old man reported that as he was pushing an ice cream cart on the sidewalk two men pretended that they would purchase ice cream and took $120 in cash from him and punching him in the face before fleeing in a vehicle operated by a third man, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the 5100 block of West Strong, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 17-year-old man reported that three men pushed him to the ground and kicked him and one of them threatened him with what appeared to be a handgun and took his cell phone, backpack and skateboard before hitting him with the skateboard, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the 3400 block of North Oak Park Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teenager reported that as he was riding a bicycle a blue mini-van drove up next to him and two men exited pushed him off the bike and then took the bike into the van and fled west on Roscoe Street, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked while trying to prevent a robbery of a 70-year-old man at about 5:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, in the parking lot of Max’s Food and Liquors, 6200 W. Belmont Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 47-year-old man reported that he saw three men in dark hooded sweatshirts attempting to steal a wallet from a 70-year-old man outside the store, according to police. The man reported that when he confronted the men and retrieved the wallet the men punched and kicked him and ran away, police said. The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, according to police.
The three men were described as black, age 18 to 25 and 6-0.
A MAN AND a woman reported that a man pointed a gun at them at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the 4900 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old woman and 38-year-old man reported that a man approached them while they were in a back yard and pointed a gun at them and threatened to shoot them, according to police.
