Local Crime from 16th District 8-28-13


TWO MEN REPORTED that someone fired shots at their car at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, in an alley in the 4200 block of North Menard Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The men, both age 20, reported that as they were picking up junk in their car, a minivan containing three men stopped and a man got out of the van and fired several shots, striking the hood of their car, according to police. Eight spent 9mm casings were found on the scene, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was attacked at about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, in the 4300 block of North Narragansett Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 64-year-old woman reported that a man punched her in the head and tried to snatch her purse, and that when he was unable to do so, he bit the woman on the left forearm, breaking the skin, according to police. The woman was treated at Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he and another man were attacked at about 8:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in the 4400 block of North Monitor Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that a man pulled up next to his car, blocking the driver’s-side door, got out of the car and struck the 22-year-old passenger in the leg with a hammer while also striking car, according to police. The passenger reported that the man is upset over a personal issue, police said.

OFFICERS arrested a man after they responded to a report of a person drinking in an alley in the 5200 block of West Lawrence Avenue at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man yelled obscenities and resisted officers, and when he was placed in a squad car, he kicked the door, according to police. While he was being removed from of the car, the man struck an officer in the chest with his elbow multiple times, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Eric Wojciechowski, age 50, of the 1300 block of South Washington Avenue, Park Ridge.

TWO MEN were arrested on theft charges at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, in the 5500 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A cashier at the 7-Eleven store, 5600 W. Irving Park Road, reported that the men stole styling gel, shaving cream and 23 $5 phone cards, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Eric Garcia, age 20, of the 4800 block of West Diversey Avenue, and Joshua Perva, age 19, of the 4000 block of North Troy Avenue.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, in the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 44-year-old man reported that a woman grabbed a bottle of medication and that when he would not let go of it, she punched him in the face three times and tried to pull money out of his sock, according to police.
