Local Crime from 16th District 9-27-17

A MAN AND TWO teenagers were arrested after they allegedly vandalized an underpass with graffiti on the Kennedy Expressway at about 11:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee of the Illinois Department of Transportation reported that he saw three people spray painting an expressway underpass located beneath the bridge in 5600 block of North Oriole Avenue and that when he sounded his automobile horn at them, they ran away up an expressway embankment and he called the police, according to police.
An officer saw three people matching a description wearing backpacks running from the expressway, and that he heard rattling sounds from their backpacks and that were arrested after he discovered fresh paint on the underpass, spray paint cans in each of their backpacks and after they were identified, police said.
The suspects were identified as Jose Ferrer, age 21, of the 2110 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, and as a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old male.

AN EMPLOYEE of Integrity Mechanical Piping reported that two Bobcat construction vehicles were stolen from a construction site in the 4900 block of West Irving Park Road between 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, and 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that he rented a Bobcat backhoe valued at $50,000 and Bobcat skid steer loader valued at $30,000 and parked them on the construction site behind an aluminum fence that was wired shut, and that when he returned, he discovered that they were missing, according to police. An employee from the rental agency reported that the location of the skid steer loader was tracked using a global positioning system and that the unit was recovered in the 4700 block of South Talman Avenue, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his residence in the 3200 block of North Natchez Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the basement door had been forced open, and that power tools valued at $950 were missing, according to police.

A COUPLE reported that their apartment in the 5400 block of West Melrose Street was burglarized between 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, and noon the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that while washing their laundry in the basement they discovered that a side window had been opened and that three acoustic guitars valued at $7,000, 50 Beanie Baby toys valued at $3,000 and 20 Barbie dolls valued at $3,000 were missing, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE of Foremost Liquors, 3510 N. Cicero Ave., reported that a woman stole items at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that the woman entered the store, concealed three bottles of liquor valued at $198 in a bag and exited the store without paying for the items, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her bicycle was stolen from the garage of her home in the 6000 block of West Byron Street at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she entered her garage, she discovered that the side door had been broken and that her black, red and white bicycle valued at $2,800 was missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported the garage of her residence in the 6000 block of West Byron Street was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered the garage door had been broken in and that power tools valued at $1,000 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, and 6:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, while it was parked in the 7100 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered 21 power tools valued at $2,000, six electrical outlets valued at $300 and copper wiring valued at $160 were missing, according to police.

SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported between Sept. 18 and Sept. 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Vehicles were reported stolen in the 5000 block of West Eddy Street, the 4800 block of West Addison Street, the 5400 block of West Giddings Street, the 5300 and 5400 blocks of West Henderson Street, the 5300 block of West Grace Street, the 5500 block of West Edmunds Street, the 6000 block of West Montrose Avenue, the 4100 block of North Marmora Avenue and in the 5400 block of West Ardmore Avenue, according to police.

THEFTS OF catalytic converters were reported between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 4200 block of North Mobile Avenue, the 3200 and 3300 blocks of North Opal Avenue, the 3700 block of North Paris Avenue, the 4100 block of North Plainfield Avenue, the 3200 block of North Onahan Avenue, the 5800 block of West Gunnison Street, the 5000 block of West Windsor Avenue and the 4700 block of North Laramie Avenue, and the 4600 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to police.
