Local Crime from 16th District 9-28-2016
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly threatened employees of the Jewel-Osco store, 7342 W. Foster Ave., at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Two employees, age 41 and 33, reported that they saw the man place several bottles of alcohol into a bag and attempt to walk out of the store without paying for the items, according to police. The employees reported that when they confronted the man, he threatened them with a knife and ran back into the store and out through another exit with the bag of items, police said. A witness reported that he saw the man change shirts outside and enter and exit a fitness facility, and he was later arrested based on the description that was provided, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Ossam Oboykin, age 22, address unknown.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 11:25 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in the 3400 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 34-year-old woman reported that a man got out of a car, told her to leave the neighborhood because she is a prostitute, punched her in the face and took her purse, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Edgebrook Motel, 6401 W. Touhy Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 73-year-old man reported that he got out of his car and that as he walked to the office a man and a woman dragged him into a room, according to police. The man said that the man took $405 from his wallet and gave him back his driver’s license and that the two threatened to kill him if he called the police, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly stabbed his roommate at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at a home in the 5300 block of West Cuyler Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 57-year-old man reported that during an argument, his roommate stabbed him with a metal object in the chest and upper back, according to police. The man was admitted to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition, police said. The suspect was arrested in the home, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Richard Nelson, age 53, of the Cuyler address.
AN OFF-DUTY police officer reported that two men threatened him at about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the 5500 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 48-year-old officer reported that as he was driving he saw a car containing two men who were shouting obscenities and displaying gang signs, according to police. The man said that he drove next to the car and identified himself as an officer, and that they stopped and got out of their cars, and that when the men approached him he pointed his gun at them and they fled, police said.
THEFTS OF catalytic converters were reported between Sept. 15 and Sept. 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 5300 block of North Lynch Avenue, the 5500 block of West Farragut Avenue, the 5900 block of North Avondale Avenue, the 5500 block of North Olcott Avenue, the 5700 block of North Mulligan Avenue and the 5900 block of North Navarre Avenue, according to police.
VEHICLES were reported stolen between Sept. 19 and Sept. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 4400 block of North Lavergne Avenue, the 3300 block of North New England Avenue, the 5100 block of North McVicker Avenue, the 4800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, the 7000 block of West Byron Street, the 3400 block of North Natoma Avenue and the 5300 block of North Northwest Highway, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6800 block of North Northwest Highway was burglarized between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was open and that a booklet of Chicago Blackhawks season tickets and parking passes valued at about $15,200 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6100 block of West Higgins Avenue was burglarized between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that a desktop computer valued at $4,700, a television set valued at $1,200, a ring valued at $3,300 and $1,600 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5600 block of North New Hampshire Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, and 8 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that three bicycles valued at $488 were missing from her porch, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 7000 block of West Irving Park Road was burglarized between 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, and 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that jewelry valued at about $7,000 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the living room window of his home in the 8600 block of West Foster Avenue was shot out with a bullet between 5:30 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
