Local Crime from 16th District 9-4-13
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly threatened another man with a gun at about 6:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, in the 5200 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 19-year-old man reported that he was at a family barbecue and that two men approached the back yard and one of them asked his gang affiliation, displayed a gun and threatened to shoot him, according to police. Officers found the suspect based on the description that was provided in the 4800 block of West Roscoe Street, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Freddy Solis, age 18, of the 1300 block of North Ridgeway Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, in the 4800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that a woman asked him to buy cigarettes for her and that when he refused, three men attacked him, knocked him to the ground and took his wallet containing a debit card, according to police.
The woman was described as black and age 20 to 25. The men were described as black and age 20 to 25.
A MAN REPORTED that he was the victim of a scam at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at his home in the 4400 block of North Merrimac Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 87-year-old man reported that a man identified himself as a city worker and said that he was concerned about a tree that is in front of his home, according to police. The man said that they both went to the basement to examine a water line and then to the garage, and that the man told him that workers would arrive in about 30 minutes and then he left in a van, police said. The resident said that he discovered that the back door was open and that five rings valued at $1,500 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5200 block of West School Street was burglarized at about 7:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he left the overhead garage door opened and that he discovered that a driver’s license, four credit cards, an iPhone, a Bluetooth device and $50 in cash were missing from his car, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6300 block of North Nokomis Avenue was burglarized between 5:40 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that gold and diamond jewelry valued at $4,000 and two purses valued at $600 were missing, according to police.
OFFICERS DISCOVERED a break-in at the Radio Shack store, 5316 N. Milwaukee Ave., at about 5:25 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a burglary alarm discovered that the rear door was open and that the store had been ransacked, according to police. An employee reported that about $20,000 worth of cell phones were missing, police said.
A surveillance tape showed three men break into the store, according to police. One of the men was described as black, age 25 to 30, 5-10 and 220 pounds, and wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes. A second man was described as black, age 25 to 30, 6-2 and 22 pounds, and wearing a Chicago White Sox baseball cap. The third man was described as black, age 25 to 30, 6-2 and 220 pounds, and wearing a black shirt.
A MAN REPORTED that items were stolen from his car between 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, and 6:30 a.m. the following day, while it was parked in the 6600 block of North Orange Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his car he discovered that a laptop computer valued at $700, a laptop bag valued at $120, a portfolio valued at $100, a presentation remote controller valued at $100, a pen valued at $100, sunglasses valued at $130 and $5 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that two men took money from her home in the 4800 block of West Montrose Avenue at about 2:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 70-year-old woman reported that as she was going to her mailbox downstairs she saw two men walking up the stairs, according to police. The woman said that she realized that she had not closed her door and went back upstairs and that one of the men ran past her and the other was in her apartment, and that he fled when she confronted him, police said. The resident said that $50 was missing from her purse, police said.
Ludlam
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5200 block of West Ludlam Avenue was burglarized between 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, and 7:10 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered a ladder had been placed near a window and the window had been forced open and that a 12-gauge shotgun valued at $450, a gold diamond ring valued at $1,000 and $425 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that copper wire was stolen from a construction site in the 5400 block of North Northwest Highway between 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that about 1,425 feet of copper wire valued at about $3,290 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6700 block of North Oshkosh Avenue was burglarized between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear bedroom window was open and that a laptop computer, a digital camera and a Sony Play Station video game console were missing, according to police.
