Local Crime from 17th District 1-26-19
A WOMAN WAS fatally wounded at about 1:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, in the 3900 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a person shot and discovered a 23-year-old woman lying on her back unresponsive in the hallway of an apartment building, according to police.
A witness reported that he heard the woman and her alleged boyfriend arguing in the courtyard outside of the apartment building before he heard someone say, "She doesn’t want to be with you," followed by the sound of gunshots and that when he looked outside his window, he saw two men and a woman running toward the street, police said.
The woman was pronounced deceased by paramedics at 1:50 a.m. with a gunshot to her right chest and to her head, police said.
The woman was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Nancy Michelle Arroyo, age 23, of the 300 block of West Fullerton Avenue. Her death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner.
A MAN WAS shot at about 5:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, in the 4000 block of West Eddy Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A witness reported that as he was driving with a 29-year-old man as a passenger in his vehicle when he heard gunshots before a rear window was shattered and the passenger was shot in the back of the head, and that he drove him to Swedish Covenant Hospital, according to police.
The man was transferred to Illinois Masonic Hospital and treated for a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and was listed in stable condition, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, in the 3100 block of West Ainslie Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that three men approached him in the alley and said that they had a gun and took his wallet containing $20 in cash, credit cards and identification cards, and a pocketknife from him before they fled eastbound, according to police.
The men were described as white/ Hispanic, age 20 to 25.
A WOMAN reported that four men attempted to rob her at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the 3200 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 20-year-old woman reported that while she was walking on the sidewalk, four men ran past her and one of the men attempted to take her bag out of her hand, according to police.
The men were described as black and wearing black gym shoes.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam and that her home in the 3500 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue was burglarized at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that while she was shoveling snow in front of her home, a man approached her and told her he needed to check the water pressure inside her residence, and that when she asked the man for his identification, he was unable to provide it, according to police. The woman reported that when she entered her home, she saw another man exit through the rear door and later discovered that $300 in cash was missing from a purse inside her residence, police said.
The men were described as white/ Hispanic, age 40 to 45.

The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the kitchen door had been broken and that jewelry valued at $10,000 and a checkbook were missing, according to police.

The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that an Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer valued at $2,100, an Apple Watch valued at $400, a Nintendo Switch video game system valued at $400 and a Sony PlayStation video game system valued at $350 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his residence in the 3900 block of North Sacramento Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, and 12:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been opened and that $3,800 in cash, an Apple iPad tablet computer valued at $900, an Omega Seamaster watch valued at $1,000, an antique silver pocket watch a "1929" inscription valued at $500 and an Acer laptop computer valued at 600 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4000 block of North Keystone Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door and a rear window had been opened and that two Apple iPad tablet computers, an Apple iPhone cell phone, a Nintendo Switch video game system and a bottle of wine were missing, according to police.
