Local Crime from 17th District 10-13-18
A MAN WAS fatally wounded at about 10:35 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at a home in the 5700 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to a Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
A man reportedly entered the home occupied by two men and a physical struggle over a firearm ensued, with one man sustaining non life-threatening injuries that were treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, according to police. The man who entered the home was shot and was pronounced dead on scene, police said.
The two men were between age 30 and 45 and police currently cannot confirm who was the owner or in possession of the firearm that was used in the incident, police said.
Area North Detectives are investigating the incident as a death investigation and as a possible home invasion, according to police.
The name of the deceased man had not been released, police said.
A MAN WAS shot and checked himself into Community First Medical Center, 5645 W. Addison St., at about 3 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that he was shot once in the lower left leg sometime in the night at an undisclosed location and that he walked to the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Pulaski Road where he called his cousin to drive him to a hospital, according to police.
The victim was uncooperative with police and left the hospital as officers were gathering more information, police said.
SHOTS were fired at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, in the 3700 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 23-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man reported that they were driving west on Montrose in their Chrysler 300 when a man in a black sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry or a Chevrolet Impala, leaned out of a window and fired six shots toward their vehicle as it was passing by, according to police. The man and the woman reported that bullets struck the driver’s side door, hood and grille, police said.
The shooter was described as white/Hispanic.
SHOTS were fired at about 11:40 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, in the 5000 block of North Kedvale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that he heard gunshots and looked out the window to see a black sedan speed away north on Kedvale, and officers recovered three spent 9mm bullet casings from the street, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in the 4900 block of North Whipple Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teenager reported that he was riding his bicycle when a man pulled him off the bike, and that a group of three men beat him and took the silver and green bike with white tires valued at $1,000, according to police. The teen was later treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital for lacerations and abrasions to his ear, face and body, police said.
One man was described as white/Hispanic, age 18, 5-9 and 160 pounds, with a medium skin complexion and wearing a black sweatshirt. The second man was described as black, age 18 to 19, 5-8 and 125 pounds, with brown eyes, black dreadlock hair, a medium brown complexion, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The third man was described as wearing a black and red Chicago Bulls jacket and red jeans.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about midnight Friday, Oct. 5, in the 4300 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 49-year-old man reported that he was entering his parked vehicle when a man and a woman searched his pockets and took about $1,000 in cash, and he was later treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, according to police. The man was allegedly intoxicated during the incident and reported that he was confused about some of the details, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 25, 5-0 and 160 pounds, with brown eyes and short black hair. The woman was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 25, 5-0 and 100 pounds, with medium-length black hair.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly assaulting a man with a knife and slashing car tires in an apparent road rage incident at about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the 3300 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 38-year-old man reported that he was in his Mazda CX7 arguing with a man on a motorcycle regarding an alleged driving incident when the man parked his motorcycle directly in front of his car, pulled out a knife, threatened to attack him for cutting him off the road and slashed the front and rear right tires of is car, according to police. The 38-year-old reported that he ran over the motorcycle and drove about a block away as the other man was trying to enter his Mazda, and that he called in police who arrested the other man, police said.
The suspect was identified as William Hulsman, age 52, of the 6900 block of 250th Avenue, Salem, Wis.
A COUPLE reported that a man broke into their home in the 3400 block of West Hollywood Avenue at about 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man and woman reported that they were taking a nap when they heard a loud noise coming from the hallway outside their bedroom and saw a man in their home who yelled "fire, fire" and ran out of the building without proceeds, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 30 to 40, 5-6 to 5-10, 160 to 190 pounds, and wearing a baseball cap.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN REPORTED that trailers were burglarized between 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the northeast corner of the former Purple Hotel site, 4560 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that his construction firm parked trucks overnight at the site, and that when he returned to work he discovered that the padlocks were cut off two trailers, and that a 20-inch concrete saw valued at about $2,000 was missing from one of the trailers, according to police.
SEVERAL vehicular burglaries were reported in the area between 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Burglaries were reported in the 6900 block of North Keating Avenue, the 6900 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue and the 3300 block of West North Shore Avenue, according to police. In each incident the victim reported leaving their vehicle unlocked, police said.
