Local Crime from 17th District 10-25-14
A MAN REPORTED that a man entered his apartment and threatened him with a handgun at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the 5300 block of North Kedzie Avenue according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that when he answered a knock at the rear door, the man entered his apartment holding a handgun and held the gun to his head, and that when he fought back the attacker fled, according to police.
THREE MEN were shot in the 3900 block of North Francisco Avenue at about 11:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that they heard gunshots and saw three 18-year-old men lying on the sidewalk while a man ran away southbound down the alley, according to police. All three men were treated for gunshot wounds at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
A MAN WAS shot at about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the 4200 block of North Central Park Avenue according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that a male teenager approached the man and fired three shots, wounding him in the abdomen, according to police. The victim was treated and released at Illinois Masonic, police said.
A WOMAN reported that a man fired a gunshot into her home in the 4400 block of North Kimball Avenue at about 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 19-year-old woman reported that a man tapped on the window of her door and fired a shot through the window, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4100 block of West Irving Park Road was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that when he returned home he discovered that three computers valued at $2,500, a television set valued at $900 and a Sony Play Station game system valued at $400 were missing, according to police.
A MAN WAS shot during a reported attempted robbery at about 4:10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in the parking lot at McDonald’s restaurant, 3154 W. Foster Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 28-year-old woman reported that two men approached her and her husband while they were sitting in their car and that one of the men displayed a handgun and demanded money, according to police. The woman said that the men pulled her husband out of the car and kicked him and hit him on the head with the gun, and that when she got out of the vehicle to try to help him, the men ordered her to return to the vehicle, according to police. The woman said that she then heard a gunshot and the men ran away, police said.
The 44-year-old man was being treated in the trauma unit at Saint Francis Hospital, police said.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN REPORTED that the wheels were stolen from his car between 11 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, and 6:30 a.m. the following day while it was parked in the 6600 block of North Drake Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he discovered in the morning that his 2010 Infiniti had been propped up on bricks and that all four tires and rims valued at $1,500 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN WAS arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 2:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman put two jewelry items valued at $38.93 into her pocket and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Maria P. Lama, age 63, of the 6200 block of North Richmond Street.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 7:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the man put clothing items valued at $258 into a shopping bag and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Andrew R. Kolstad, age 34, of Dousman, Wis.
A WOMAN was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana following her arrest at about 12:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the 3800 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle that had a damaged tail light and registration light, and the man driving the vehicle was unable to provide identification, according to police. Officers searched the vehicle and found a bag containing 1.17 grams of rock cocaine and a razor blade on the front seat, and the woman in the passenger seat admitted that the bag belonged to her and that she also had a bag containing 3.37 grams of cocaine and marijuana cigarette in her possession, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Heather Rodriguez, age 20, of the 5200 block of West Cornelia Avenue in Chicago.
A MAN WAS charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and with driving without a valid driver’s license following his arrest at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the 7400 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a car with no rear registration light that was speeding and that had crossed the center line, and driver was arrested after the officer smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle and found a glass smoking pipe with cannabis residue in the vehicle, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Nicholas M. Ortiz, age 19, of the 2300 block of South Hamlin Avenue.
