Local Crime from 17th District 10-6-18

TWO MEN WERE shot at about 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, outside of the Fort Knox Recording Studios, 4255 N. Knox Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 24-year-old man reported that he and a 33-year-old man were trying to enter the recording studio when two or three men approached and told them not to move, and that when the 24-year-old man turned around and saw one man armed with a handgun he ran north toward the Montrose CTA Blue Line station, 4600 W. Montrose Ave., according to police. The 24-year-old man reported that he then discovered a graze wound to his right foot, and he was transported to Community First Medical Center in good condition, police said.
Officers discovered that the 33-year-old man was shot outside the studio three times in the right hip, right bicep and abdomen, and he was transported to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition, according to police.
Officers recovered a backpack inside the studio containing four plastic bags and a glass jar containing a substance suspected of being marijuana, two bags containing a substance suspected of being cocaine, $100 in cash, rolling papers and a marijuana grinder, police said. Officers also recovered at least one firearm, police said. A witness reported that he was told by one of the injured men to bring the backpack inside, according to police.
The men were described as black and wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts tightly wrapped around their faces.

A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen at gunpoint at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in the 3300 block of West Byron Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that he was sitting in his white 2004 Infiniti G35 with his girlfriend when two men exited a green GMC sport utility vehicle and that one man pointed a semiautomatic handgun at them and demanded them out before one man drove the Infiniti away east on Byron and the other man rode away in the GMC driven by a third man, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that shots were fired at her and her grandchildren at about 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in the 4000 block of West School Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A woman reported that she was at home when a person knocked on her door about half an hour prior to the shooting and asked for a person named "Reed" and she didn’t answer, and that the two men later began kicking at the door, according to police.
The woman reported that she called her 54-year-old mother that people are trying to break into the apartment, police said.
The 54-year-old woman reported that she was driving her 14- and 17-year-old grandsons when she received the call, and when they went to her daughter’s home on School Street the two teens reported that they were at the bottom of the rear apartment stairs when fired shots were fired at them from the third floor stairs, according to police.
One of the teens reported that he ran to the front of the home and the second teen reported that he ran to the alley where his grandmother was in the vehicle, and teen and woman reported that a man then fired more shots at them, but no injuries or damage were reported, police said. Officers recovered five spent bullet casings near the rear apartment stairs, according to police.

SHOTS were fired at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the 3500 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that he was outside when he saw two men in a light green or teal vehicle, possibly an older-model Ford Explorer, and that the men stopped in the middle of the street and fired four shots into the air before driving away north on Kilpatrick, according to police. Officers recovered four spent .40-caliber bullet casings on scene, police said.
The men were described as white/Hispanic.

A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was damaged by bullets between 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, and 7 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the 3300 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his 2007 Honda Civic he discovered several bullet holes and broken windows on the front and rear driver’s side doors, according to police. Officers recovered seven spent 9mm bullet casings and they believe the incident may be related to a shots fired call at about 9:50 p.m. Sept. 26, police said.

EMPLOYEES of the J.C. Food Market, 3404 W. Irving Park Road, reported that the store was robbed at gunpoint at about 9:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The owner reported that she was behind the counter when a man approached, pointed a black handgun at her and demanded cash, and took $80 to $100 in cash before fleeing on foot, according to police. An employee reported that he witnessed the robbery and that about 20 minutes prior he saw an unknown woman looking into the store window and talking on a cell phone, police said.
The man was described as approximately 5-9 and wearing all black clothing, including a black hooded sweatshirt and a black scarf covering the face.

A MAN REPORTED that a man broke into his home in the 4900 block of North Tripp Avenue at about 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that a man knocked on his front door and that when he opened the man punched him in the face, took his iPhone and his wallet containing a driver’s license, credit cards and $60 in cash, and that he lost consciousness soon after being punched, according to police. The man reported that his wife woke him when she returned about a half hour later and he was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he saw a man break into a home in the 6000 block of North Forest Glen Avenue at about 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 65-year-old man reported that he was visiting his friend’s home to walk his dog when he noticed that the rear door had been shattered with a brick and he saw a man jump from a second floor balcony, according to police. The friend reported that nothing appeared to be missing, police said.
The man was described as black.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the 3100 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 38-year-old woman reported that she was with three children when a man pointed a pocketknife and grabbed took her purse containing identification cards and $900 in cash and fled, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 30 to 40, about 5-6 and 100 to 120 pounds, with black hair, a dark skin complexion, tattoos on his neck and under both eyes, and wearing a red shirt and red or green shorts.

A WOMAN reported that she was threatened at about 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in an alley in the 4300 block of West Henderson Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was in an alley throwing out the garbage when she saw two men by a grey sedan, possibly a Volkswagen, and that one pointed a black firearm at her and she ran away, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in the 3600 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 51-year-old man reported that two men who demanded his cell phone valued at about $700, and that when he refused they attacked him and took his phone and he lost consciousness at some point, according to police. The man reported that he went to Swedish Covenant Hospital for a neck sprain and lacerations to the forehead and ear, police said.
The men were both described as white/Hispanic and age 20 to 25, and one was further described as about 5-7, with black hair and a light skin complexion while the other was described as about 5-8.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the 3700 block of West Leland Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 52-year-old man reported that he was waking his dog into an alley when a man grabbed him and took $12 in cash from his wallet, according to police. The man reported that a second man was standing nearby as a lookout, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of North Keeler Avenue was burglarized at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when his wife returned home she discovered that a side window and the front door had been opened, and that a sports memorabilia ring valued at $900, two knives valued at $100 and an e-cigarette valued at $90 were missing, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 30 to 40, 5-5 to 5-7, 155 to 180 pounds, with brown eyes, short black hair, a light brown complexion, and wearing a black hooded zip-up sweater, a blue shirt, grey jeans and white hi-top shoes.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3600 block of West Foster Avenue was burglarized between noon and 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was broken and that a gold and silver Rolex watch and an unknown amount of other gold watches, four gold rings, a diamond, an emerald, a ruby, a social security card and multiple e-bonds were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5200 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that her basement room had been ransacked and that a wallet valued at $100 containing identification and social security cards and $100 in cash was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his garage in the 3800 block of North Central Park Avenue was burglarized between 11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, and noon Tuesday, Sept. 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to the garage he discovered that the side door had been kicked and that a flat screen television set valued at $100 was missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A CONSTRUCTION worker reported that the site of the Sacred Learning Center, 3900 W. Devon Ave., was burglarized between 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, and 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that when he returned to the site he discovered that a fence along Proesel Avenue was unbolted and cable wires from a gang box in the building were cut, and a welder/generator valued at $3,000 was missing, police said. Foster

A MAN REPORTED that the wheels and tires of his vehicle were stolen at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the 3900 block of West Wallen Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The 46-year-old man reported that when he returned to his 2016 Honda Accord in the morning he discovered that all four wheels were removed and the car was propped on bricks, according to police.
