Local Crime from 17th District 11-16-13
A MAN WAS charged with aggravated assault following his arrest at about 12:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the 4900 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 36-year-old man reported that a man who cut off his car twice while driving got out of his vehicle and approached his car with a machete, and that the man fled when he called police, according to police. The suspect was stopped a short time later by a Northeastern Illinois University police officer, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Raul Nava, age 35, of the 2800 block of 73rd Court, Elmwood Park.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the 4100 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that two men and a woman attacked him ant took approximately $100 in cash and credit cards from him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the 5000 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 61-year-old man reported that a man approached him from behind and asked for money and cigarettes, and that when he declined, the man punched him in the face and took a debit card and $200 from him, according to police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4700 block of North Kenneth Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a necklace worth $500, a bracelet valued at $200, a computer tablet valued at $400 and two television sets valued at $1,200 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4000 block of North Kimball Avenue was burglarized between 5 and 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that $500 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5600 block of North Jersey Avenue was burglarized between 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the back door had been broken open and that an iPhone, two iPads, a designer purse, a computer tablet and eight watches valued at a total of approximately $16,000 were missing, according to police.
Lincolnwood
A MAN WAS charged with possession of a controlled substance following his arrest at about 12:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the 6300 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer who stopped a car for a traffic violation discovered that the man was driving on a suspended license and was in possession of prescription pills that did not belong to him, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Taner Kapan, age 44, of the 6900 block of West Montrose Avenue, Harwood Heights.
A WOMAN was arrested at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, after she allegedly stole items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman take a coat valued at $198 and leave the store without paying for it, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Gladys Mariela Guzman-Jimenez, age 23, of the 6200 block of North Francisco Avenue.
A WOMAN was arrested at about 2:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, after she allegedly stole items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman take a pair of men’s pants, five men’s dress shirts and a children’s toy and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Renee C. Clark, age 44, of the 2000 block of West Jarvis Avenue.
A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the 6900 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a car that was swerving, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests and kicked the officer twice in the leg, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Santiago T. Rivera, age 38, of the 4900 block of West Kirk Street, Skokie.
