Local Crime from 17th District 11-16-19
A WOMAN reported that her son was shot at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, while she was driving in the 4600 to 4700 blocks of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she picked up her 14-year-old son from a Von Steuben High School homecoming dance and as they were she noticed that a dark-colored Honda sport utility vehicle was following them and she heard a loud noise and the rear window cracked, and she noticed that her son was shot in the head and she called for an ambulance that transported the teen to Lurie Children’s Hospital in critical condition, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man and a woman robbed him at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in an alley in the 4800 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 39-year-old man reported that a man and a woman drove up to him on the street in a dark-colored Dodge sport utility vehicle, identified themselves as officers, asked what he was doing and demanded his wallet, according to police.
The man reported that he turned around and saw the other man taking his foreign ID card and $340 in cash and the man told him to avoid turning around or he would be "arrested," that the woman gave him back his emptied wallet and the man then asked him to empty his pockets and they took $20 more in cash before they drove away east, police said.
Both people were described as white, wearing dark-colored jackets and carrying a flashlight. The man was further described as age 35 to 40, with short black hair, black facial hair, and wearing a baseball cap, and the woman as age 40 to 45, with a heavyset build, long black hair, and wearing a black winter hat with an embroidered white star.
A MAN REPORTED that a man tried to rob him and took his dog at about 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, by the intersection of West School Street and North Keating Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 51-year-old man reported that he was walking his dog near Belmont and Cicero avenues when a man drove up in a car and agreed to drive him to Cicero and Cornelia avenues for a fee and he entered the car with his dog, and that the driver pointed a handgun, demanded money and that he jumped out of the car but left his dog as it drove away east, according to police. A resident reported finding a dog running on Cicero a short time later, which was later discovered to be the man’s dog and returned back to its home, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him and stole his property at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, 3214 N. Kimball Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 57-year-old man reported that he was standing in line to order when a man who just made a purchase punched him in the head, cursed at him and then grabbed from his pocket his key ring containing a car key and key fobs to three vehicles before he ran away west on Melrose Street and south through a residential yard, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 30 to 40, 5-6 to 5-9, and wearing tan pants and a green camouflage-patterned bubble coat.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the 4700 block of North Bernard Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 59-year-old woman reported that she was walking when a man pushed her to the ground and took her purse containing $1,400 in cash and ran away, according to police.
The man was described as about 5-7 or 5-8 and 130 to 140 pounds, and wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans.
