Local Crime from 17th District 11-30-13

EMPLOYEES reported that Parkway Bank and Trust, 4480 W. Lawrence Ave., was robbed at about 11:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 42-year-old teller reported that a man handed her a note demanding money and stating that he had a gun and that she gave him $1,549 in cash, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 40 to 46, 5-5 and 160 pounds, and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes.

TWO PEOPLE reported that a man threatened them with a gun at about 9:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in the 4600 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man and the woman, age 22 and 23, reported that a man asked their gang affiliation and that a second man pointed a gun at them, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked in an apparent gang-related incident at about 9:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in the 3500 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that a group of four or five men got out of a car and punched and kicked him, and that one of them struck him on the head with a beer bottle, causing a laceration to his forehead, according to police.

AN OFF-DUTY Chicago police officer reported that a man attacked him with a knife at about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the 4900 block of North Bernard Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The officer reported that one of a group of four men was urinating on a gate and that when he told them to leave, one of the men lunged at him with a knife, according to police. The officer reported that he kicked the man in the chest, possibly breaking his own foot, and that the men fled in a car, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in an alley in the 4800 block of North Hamlin Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that a man got out of a car, shouted gang slogans, pointed a gun at him and took $3 and a pair of headphones from him, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly robbed a couple at about 10:05 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in the 3300 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man and a woman, age 34 and 41, reported that a man emerged from a gangway, displayed a gun and took the man’s iPhone, according to police. Officers tracked the phone to a vehicle that was being driven by the suspect in the 5000 block of North Pulaski Road, and the driver was arrested after officers found the phone, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Jesus Garcia Jr., age 23, of the 3800 block of West Foster Avenue.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the 3600 block of West Leland Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that a man displayed a gun and took his cell phone, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Good Morning food store, 4030 W. Irving Park Road, was robbed at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old employee reported that a man wearing a black ski mask implied that he had a gun and took $100 from the cash register, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 27 to 30, 5-9 to 5-10 and 160 to 170 pounds, and wearing black sweatpants and a gray hooded sweatshirt with a white zipper.

A COUPLE reported that their home in the 3500 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and midnight the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man and the woman reported that when they returned home they discovered that the front door had been forced open and that $3,000 worth of jewelry and $800 in cash were missing, according to police.

TWO WOMEN reported that their home in the 4900 block of North Harding Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The women reported that when they returned home they discovered that $1,800 worth of jewelry and $240 in cash were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that two men attempted to break into his home in the 5100 block of North Christiana Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 45-year-old man reported that he heard a noise and discovered that two men were attempting to break into his apartment through the rear door, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of North Elston Avenue was burglarized at about 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear window was open and that $200 worth of jewelry was missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A WOMAN was arrested following an incident at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Dominick’s Finer Foods, 6850 N. McCormick Blvd., according to Lincolnwood police.
A security guard reported the woman brought several bottles of laundry detergent and baby formula to the self-checkout line, paid for some of the items and left the store with $223.36 worth of the merchandise, according to police. The woman returned later and purchased more items, and after she left the store officers approached her and found a bag containing a substance suspected of being crack cocaine, five pills, two pipes and other drug-related paraphernalia in her possession, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Danielle T. Gorzelany, age 31, of the 5900 block of North Leonard Avenue.

A MAN WAS arrested on drug charges at about 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the 3100 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer stopped a vehicle with expired license plates, the driver was arrested when officers saw a bag containing a substance suspected of being marijuana in the center console and during a search of the vehicle discovered about 75 grams of a substance suspected of being marijuana, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Derrick Wadlington, age 43, of the 400 block of Elmwood Avenue, Evanston.

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 11:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in the 6300 block of North Keating Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer stopped a vehicle that was speeding and weaving, the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests and the officer discovered three open bottles of vodka in the car, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Antonio Arriaga, 47, of the 3000 block of West Gunnison Street.

A MAN WAS charged with resisting arrest after he was stopped for speeding at about 9:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer attempted to stop a vehicle that was speeding in the 4200 block of West Touhy Avenue, and the driver continued until he pulled into a driveway in the 6400 block of North Kenton Avenue, according to police. The officer smelled the odor of alcohol, and the man was arrested as he attempted to run to his home, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Jeffrey Worley, age 54, of the 6400 block of North Kenton Avenue.

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in the 6700 block of North Harding Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer stopped a vehicle that was speeding and weaving, the driver was arrested when he could not produce a driver’s license and he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Manuel Garcia-Santos, age 32, of the 4900 block of West Louise Avenue.
