Local Crime from 17th District 12-24-16
A MAN WAS shot at about 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in the 3500 block of West Ainslie Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that someone shot him in the left leg as he was walking, according to police. The man, who officers said was uncooperative, was treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
A MAN WAS shot in at about 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, in the 3100 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that the 34-year-old man had an argument with three men in the Brick House restaurant, 3152 W. Irvin Park Road, and that in a fight outside the restaurant, one of the three shot the man several times, according to police. The man was in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the groin, the upper chest, the buttocks and the thigh, police said.
TWO WOMEN reported that their car was stolen at about 6:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the 4900 block of North Albany Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The women, age 19 and 20, reported that after they parked the car, a man and a woman threatened to shoot them and took their cell phones, gift cards and $25 in cash, according to police. One of the women said that when her car keys fell out of her purse, the man asked which car was hers and the two drove away in her Saturn Vue, police said.
TWO MEN were arrested after they allegedly invaded a home in the 4800 block of North Keeler Avenue at about 12:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 20-year-old man reported that the men entered his home, demanded "money or weed," ordered him to the floor and took $400, according to police. Officers who responded to a report of two armed men entering a home saw one of the suspects drop a gun and flee, and he was captured in the 4700 block of North Kedvale Avenue, police said. The second suspect was arrested after he attempted to flee through the rear door but was held by the residents of the apartment, according to police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Emmanuel D. Yama, age 20, of the 4900 block of North Kedzie Avenue, and Japhet Vasquez, age 19, address unknown.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, 3357 W. Peterson Ave., was robbed at gunpoint at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that a man displayed a handgun and took $545 from the cash register, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in the 3400 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 53-year-old woman reported that she cashed a check at a currency exchange and that while she was waiting for a bus four masked men approached her and one of them took her purse containing $4,040, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was stolen at about 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the 3100 block of West Ainslie Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 65-year-old man reported that he was warming his car as he was shoveling snow and that a man knocked him to the ground and he and another man drove away in his 2016 Honda Civic, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6300 block of North Keeler Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the side door had been forced open and that jewelry, a diamond necklace valued at $10,000, $13,000 in cash, an iPhone and an iPad were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Drake Avenue was burglarized between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear kitchen window and door were unlocked and that a necklace valued at $400, a charm valued at $150, earrings valued at $200 and a watch valued at $350 were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 2:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the 6600 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
A vehicle crossed the center median, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests and 10 open cans and bottles of beer were found in the car, according to police
The suspect was identified by police as Juan Martinez-Ramirez, age 45, of the 7900 block of North Kedvale Avenue, Skokie.
TWO PEOPLE reported that their car was burglarized between 6:00 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in the parking lot of the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The couple reported that the front passenger-side window was broken and that a purse containing credit cards, keys and $100 was missing, according to police.
THE GENERAL manager of the Grossinger Autoplex, 6900 N. McCormick Blvd., reported that a vehicle was burglarized in the sales lot between 1 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, and 10 a.m. the following day, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that an employee discovered the front driver’s-side window of a 2013 Jeep Wrangler was broken and that a stereo and navigation system was missing, according to police.
