Local Crime from 17th District 2-14-15
A MAN WAS shot at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the 4400 block of North Keystone Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that he and a friend were waiting in a car outside another friend’s home residence and that he heard gunshots and saw two men on a corner, and that when he got out of the car he was shot in the lower back, according to police. There were bullet holes in the side door and the roof of the vehicle and in the side of the home, and five shell casings were found on the sidewalk, police said.
The man was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital in stable condition, police said.
A MAN WAS charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana following his arrest at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in the 4200 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers stopped a vehicle that had failed to obey a stop sign, and the driver was arrested after the discovered a bag containing marijuana in the vehicle and a handgun concealed in the driver’s waistband, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Henry Diaz, age 29, of the 3700 block of North Saint Louis Avenue.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly threatened a police officer at about 7:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in the 4000 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An officer reported that a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed attempted to force him off the road, and the driver was arrested after he threatened the officer while stopped at a stop light and claimed that he was a police officer from Wisconsin, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Mark A. Kelley, age 52, of the 4100 block of North Francisco Avenue.
A MAN AND a woman reported that they were robbed at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, in the 3300 block of North Avers Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man and 28-year-old woman reported that two men wearing ski masks approached them with a handgun and took their wallets, their cell phones and $75 in cash, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him with a knife and slashed a tire on his vehicle during a driving dispute at about 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in the 4200 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 59-year-old man reported that the man got out of his vehicle and approached him after a driving dispute, threatened him with a knife and stabbed a hole in the left front tire of his car, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, in an alley in the 3400 block of North Springfield Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 61-year-old man reported that two men approached him and that one of them displayed a handgun and the two took $800 from him, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that R.N. International, 3909 W. Lawrence Ave., was robbed at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that two men wearing black ski masks entered the business and that one of the men sprayed him and four other men who were in the business in the eyes with a chemical spray while the other man displayed a handgun, and that the two took $17,000 from a cabinet, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6100 block of North Lowell Avenue was burglarized between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been broken in and that a MacBook Air laptop computer valued at $1,000, two leather handbags valued at $500 and jewelry valued at $925 were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the 3800 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle that was speeding, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Audiel Perez, age 31, of the 6400 block of North Rockwell Street.
A MAN WAS arrested after he burglarized a home in the 6500 block of North Crawford Avenue at about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, according to Lincolnwood police.
A woman called police to report that she had seen a man break into her home on an online security video, and officers arrested a man who was leaving the home carrying a jewelry box and other items from the home, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Karl A. Reinhardt, age 52, of the 5800 block of North Pulaski Road.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was burglarized while it was parked in the parking lot of the Great Beijing Chinese Restaurant, 6717 N. Lincoln Ave., at about 2:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that a passenger-side window was broken and that a shoulder bag containing an iPod valued at $600 and a Samsung digital camera valued at $500 was missing.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman put two pairs of earrings valued at $90 in her coat pocket and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Nora Oana Tara, age 47, of the 9200 block of North Linder Avenue, Morton Grove.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the man take six clothing items valued at $199 into a fitting room and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Hugo Andres Bravo, age 37, of the 2800 block of West Coyle Avenue.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at 12:57 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman put various items valued at $116 into her purse and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Alexandra Victoria Cornwell, age 26, of the 4800 block of North Rockwell Street.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman remove the price tag from a dress valued at $138 and leave the store without paying for the item, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Esmerelda Vergara, age 29, of the 5000 block of North Kilbourn Avenue.
