Local Crime from 17th District 2-20-2016
A MAN WAS shot in an apparent gang-related incident at about 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the 4200 block of West Peterson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that he was in a car with a man to perform a retaliation gang shooting and that when he changed his mind about the shooting the driver became angry and shot him in the hand and arm and forced him out of the car, according to police. The man was treated at Saint Francis Hospital, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested on aggravated domestic battery charges at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at a home in the 3700 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 53-year-old woman reported that during an argument her son struck her on the head with a frying pan, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Mohammed A. Hassan, age 28, of the 3700 block of West Wilson Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about midnight Monday, Feb. 8, in the 3200 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that a man struck him on the head with a bottle and demanded money and then fled after he searched him and found nothing, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 2900 W. Montrose Ave., was robbed at gunpoint at about 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 28-year-old employee reported that two men entered the store and one of them displayed a handgun and demanded money, according to police. The employee reported that a customer in the store ran out of the store and that one of the men tackled him outside and took his money, police said. The employee said that the other man took $200 from the cash register and six bottles of alcohol, police said.
TWO MEN were arrested on robbery charges at about 12:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, in the 3900 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 68-year-old woman reported that a man took her purse and pushed her to the ground, according to police. A man reported that he saw the man enter a car, according to police. Officers stopped a vehicle that matched the description that was given, and the occupants were arrested after they were identified, police said. The driver also was cited for not having insurance, negligent driving, not wearing a seatbelt and having a false temporary license plate, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Robert L. Miller, age 28, of the 7200 block of South Maplewood Avenue, and Jarmamaine A. Wilcox Jr., age 24, of the 6500 block of South Campbell Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about midnight Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the 4400 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 43-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the face and a second man took his wallet containing $5, a debit card and Mexican identification, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4700 block of North Kenneth Avenue was burglarized between Jan. 26 and Feb. 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a television set valued at $700, a refrigerator valued at $1,000, a dryer valued at $1,000, a stove valued at $500, a microwave oven, a couch and documentation were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4100 block of North Elston Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the back door had been forced open and that a Play Station 3 video game console and jewelry were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3300 block of West Foster Avenue was burglarized at about 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he retuned home he discovered that a Play Station 4 video game console was missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6700 block of North Trumbull Avenue was burglarized between 7:45 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the back door had been forced open and that jewelry valued at approximately $5,000 was missing, according to police.
A MAN WAS charged with possession of cannabis following his arrest at about 3:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, in the 6700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle that was speeding, and the driver was arrested after the officer smelled the odor of marijuana and discovered 18 plastic bags containing approximately 13.14 grams of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Victor E. Gonzalez, age 19, of the 1300 block of West Hollywood Avenue.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 4:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman conceal two clothing items valued at $68 and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Emira Korac, age 47, of the 6400 block of North Rockwell Street.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman conceal jewelry valued at $366 inside her coat pocket and clothing items valued at $82 inside a shopping bag and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Samantha C. Lynch, age 30, of the 2300 block of West Birchwood Avenue.
