Local Crime from 17th District 3-11-17
A MAN WAS shot at about 5 a.m. Friday, March 3, in an alley in the 3700 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that he stopped to let two men cross in front of him and that one of the men kicked his vehicle, according to police. The man said that when he got out of his car, the man punched him in the chest, and that during a struggle the other man shot him in the chest, police said. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.
A COUPLE reported that their car was stolen at gunpoint at about 2:05 a.m. Thursday, March 9, in the 4900 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 28-year-old man reported that as he was dropping off his 20-year-old girlfriend, a vehicle containing five men stopped, two men got out, and one of them displayed a handgun, demanded money and ordered him out of the car, according to police. The man said that a second man with a gun approached the car and that the two took their cell phones and his wallet containing $450 and drove away in his 2014 Hyundai Elantra, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly cut a man on the face at about 1 a.m. Sunday, March 5, in the 3600 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An employee of La Villa restaurant, 3632 N. Pulaski Road, reported that he saw a man punching two women in the parking lot and that when he intervened, the man slashed him across the face with a hook-shaped blade that he got from his car, according to police. Witnesses reported that the man fled in a vehicle and that the two women also fled, police said. The employee was treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital, according to police.
The suspect, who was identified by police as Ignacio Felix, age 35, of the 6300 block of West Berteau Avenue, was arrested on March 6 following an investigation, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, March 5, in the 4300 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 54-year-old woman reported that three men grabbed her and took her purse containing her cell phone, $20 and her keys, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was stolen from the garage of his home in the 3800 block of North Hamlin Avenue between 8:45 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. Sunday, March 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the back door of his home was unlocked and that his car keys and his Hyundai Elantra were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4100 block of North Central Park Avenue was burglarized between 7:20 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Monday, March 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that a laptop computer valued at $1,000 and jewelry were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4400 block of North Whipple Street was burglarized between 7:50 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that her neighbor told her that a window screen had been cut and that she discovered that a television set valued at $800, a necklace valued at $1,000 and three rings valued at $3,900 were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN reported that her car was burglarized between 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, and 6:10 p.m. the following day while it was parked in the 4000 block of West Morse Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that she discovered that two pairs of sunglasses, a cell phone earpiece and a holy book were missing from her unlocked car, according to police.
A SECURITY guard reported that a men’s washroom and adjacent walls were vandalized with gang-related and anti-Donald Trump graffiti at the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., between 6:45 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. Thursday, March 2, according to Lincolnwood police.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, March 2, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman take a jacket and a purse valued at $326, enter a fitting room with another woman and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Maria D. Perez-Lopez, age 32, of the 6200 block of North Sacramento Avenue.
