Local Crime from 17th District 3-14-15
A MAN REPORTED that he was involved in a gang-related incident at about 4:50 p.m. Monday, March 9, in the 3400 block of West Ainslie Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that a car with three occupants approached his vehicle at a stoplight and that the men began yelled gang slogans at him, according to police. The man said that he drove away and that the men chased his vehicle and caused him to become involved in a four-car auto accident, police said.
The man reported that he is a member of a gang, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a teenager tried to rob him at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, in the 4300 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that as he was riding on his bicycle, a teenage5 man approached him, displayed what appeared to be a knife and demanded his money and that he rode away, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, March 7, on the platform of the CTA Blue Line station, 3622 W. Addison St., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that a man got off a train and took $60 from him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 5000 block of North Sawyer Avenue was burglarized at about 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that several drawers had been opened and that $1,650 in cash was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 3800 block of North Albany Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that lights had been turned on and that she saw two men running away from the building, according to police. The woman reported that the front door had been broken in but that it appeared that nothing was missing, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3600 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman that when she returned home she discovered that a side window had been forced open and that three wooden jewelry boxes valued at $300 and jewelry valued at $500 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3800 block of North Francisco Avenue was broken into at about 8:05 p.m., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 82-year-old woman reported that someone broke through the front glass door and entered the house while she was sleeping and that the individual fled after she started screaming, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4700 block of West Roscoe Street was burglarized between 8:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Monday, March 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been broken in and that $500 in cash and a gold ring were missing, according to the police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS arrested after he fled police and caused a three-vehicle accident at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, in the 4600 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer attempted to stop a vehicle that was speeding, the driver fled, and he was apprehended after he caused a 3-car traffic accident Devon and Kenton avenues, according to police. An officer discovered two items of drug paraphernalia inside the man’s car after he asked the officer to retrieve his cell phone from the vehicle, police said.
A man driving a Federal Express truck was injured during the collision and was admitted to Saint Francis Hospital, according to police. The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony offense of fleeing an officer, and he received several traffic citations, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Fernando S. Ruiz-Bustamante, age 21, of the 1600 block of Dobson Street, Evanston.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Mobil gas station, 6401 N. Cicero Ave., was robbed at about 10:25 p.m. Friday, March 6, according to Lincolnwood police.
The employee reported that a man entered the station’s convenience store, displayed a handgun, took $69 in cash, seven packages of cigarettes valued at $79 and a bag of chips valued at $3 from him, and ordered him to lie on the floor before he fled, according to police.
A WOMAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following her arrest at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday, March 8, in the 4700 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a car because the driver was talking on a cell phone, and the woman was arrested after the officer smelled the odor of alcohol on her breath and she failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Joanna Balaz, age 36, of the 3600 block of Ridgeland Avenue, Berwyn.
THREE CITATIONS were issued for possession of small amounts of marijuana between March 5 and March 10, according to Lincolnwood police.
Citations were issued for possession of marijuana after traffic stops in the 3800 and 4400 blocks of West Touhy Avenue and the 6900 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to police.
