Local Crime from 17th District 3-23-19
A COUPLE reported that they were robbed at gunpoint at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, March 16, in the 4500 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man and the woman reported that they had parked their vehicle and were walking home when two men exited a red four-door vehicle with tinted windows and pointed black handguns at them, demanded the man to get on the ground and the woman to avoid moving, and that the men took two cellphones, a wallet, two debit cards, two foreign consular ID’s, house and car keys and $160 in cash before the men fled into the red vehicle driven by a third person, according to police.
The men were described as black, age 24 to 26, 5-7 to 5-9, 130 to 150 pounds, and wearing black hooded jackets and black jeans.
AN EMPLOYEE of Chicago Produce, 3500 W. Lawrence Ave., reported that a man stole cash at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, March 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that he was going to his car with a sack containing $30,000 in cash that was intended to be deposited in the bank, when another man approached him from behind, shoved him, grabbed the money and ran away north through the parking lot and Drake Avenue, according to police.
TWO MEN and a woman reported that they were a victim of a scam at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at their home in the 4400 block of West Peterson Avenue according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that four men claiming to be city workers parked a gray Ford Edge in their driveway and said that they needed to trim trees in his backyard, and that he began walking toward his house when one of the men tackled him to the ground and three men ran inside, threatened to hurt his wife and grabbed about $2,000 worth of watches and bracelets and $600 in cash before running back to the gray Ford, according to police.
A relative reported that he emerged and tackled the man that was "wrestling" with the man in the driveway and was able to retrieve a small walkie-talkie with a white rope attached and a black U.S. Polo baseball cap, but that the man was able to break free and run into the Ford with the three other men, police said.
The men were all described as white/Hispanic.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3300 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue was burglarized at about 12:25 p.m. Thursday, March 14, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that her black purse valued at $80 and containing two bank cards and $45 in cash was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4900 block of North Kilbourn Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday, March 16, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he and his wife returned home they discovered that the rear door was open and that $1,000 in cash was missing from a wallet and $5,500 in cash was missing from storage spaces in two closets, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 3300 block of North Albany Avenue was burglarized between 3 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that his front window was unlocked and that a Macbook Pro laptop computer was missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the 3900 block of West Pratt Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers saw a woman driving a black Honda Civic while operating a cellphone and stopped the car on Pratt Avenue and discovered that the woman was never issued a driver’s license and smelled an odor of cannabis, according to police.
Officers discovered $2,328 in cash in the center console and a tote bag on the rear floor containing three mason jars with individually bagged amounts of a leafy substance suspected of being marijuana, as well as an electronic scale and a box of bags, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Danielle Hollowell, age 28, of the 4300 block of West Van Buren Street.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was vandalized between 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, while parked in the 6400 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The 38-year-old man reported that when he returned to his grey 2015 Volkswagen Passat he discovered that the front windshield was shattered, according to police.
