Local Crime from 17th District 4-19-14
TWO TEENAGERS reported that they were attacked in an apparent gang-related incident at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the 4400 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The teens, age 17 and 18, reported that two men made gang gestures and approached them, one of them wielding a broken bottle, according to police. The 17-year-old reported that he was cut on his finger and that the two kicked him in the head, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that two men attempted to rob him at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the 4700 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 49-year-old man reported that two men approached him and pushed him to the ground and that one of them displayed a handgun and demanded money, according to police. The man said that he was able to escape, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed about 5:45 a.m. Sunday, April 13, in the 4800 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 49-year-old man reported that as he was entering his car, a motorcycle stopped and two men got off, and that one of them indicated that he had a gun and the two took $600 from him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13, in the 4800 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 40-year-old man reported that he purchased items at the Payless Shoe Source store, 3401 W. Lawrence Ave., with a 19-year-old woman whom he had met on Facebook, according to police. The man said that he bought $130 worth of merchandise for the woman before he dropped her off at a bus stop at Kimball and Lawrence avenues, police said.
The man reported that he then returned home, that three men accosted him and that one of them displayed a handgun and took his wallet containing $600 in cash, his cell phone and two chains, according to police. The man said that he returned to the shoe store and an employee told him that the woman returned the items for a refund, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the 5100 block of North Albany Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that a group of men approached him from behind and knocked him to the ground and that one of them struck him in the face with a baseball bat and he lost consciousness, according to police. The man said that when he regained consciousness he discovered that $150 in cash was missing from his pocket, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her car was stolen during a robbery that occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Unique Thrift Store, 3748 N. Elston Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 53-year-old woman reported that a man pushed her to the floor, took her keys and drove off in her 2001 Honda Accord, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6200 block of North Cicero Avenue was burglarized between 5 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Monday, April 14, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that $1,000 worth of jewelry and $800 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4100 block of West Glenlake Avenue was burglarized between 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, April 14, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that $100 in cash was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4400 block of North Lawndale Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was open and that an Xbox video game console valued at $300, a flash drive and headphones were missing, according to police.
Lincolnwood
A MAN WAS arrested on a drug charge at about 7:20 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in the 3300 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
A resident reported that he saw a car parked behind his van and that a man ran away when he approached his vehicle, which had been broken into, according to police. Officers on patrol saw a man and a vehicle that fit the man’s description, and the driver was arrested after officers found three bags of a substance suspected of being marijuana in his car, police said. The man whose car was broken into later said that the suspect was not the man who broke into his car, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Aaron A. Richmond, of the 600 block of Pershing Road.
A MAN REPORTED that tires and rims were stolen from his 2013 Honda Accord between 5:45 p.m. Thursday, April 10, and 5:50 a.m. the following day, while it was parked in the 6700 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
A WOMAN WAS arrested at about 3:40 p.m. Saturday, April 12, after she allegedly stole items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman place a wallet valued at $40 in her purse and leave the store without paying for it, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Valentina Kentros, age 54, of the 2600 block of West Argyle Street.
