Local Crime from 17th District 4-28-18
A MAN WAS shot at about 12:15 a.m. Friday, April 20, in the 3400 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 42-year-old man reported that he was walking with his male 37-year-old friend when two men approached and demanded cash and that one man hit him in the right shoulder with a handgun and he hand over his iPhone, according to police. The man reported that his friend refused to comply with the men’s demands and was shot several times in the left armpit and back and was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition, police said.
One man was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 23, approximately 5-5 to 5-8 and 145 to 160 pounds, and wearing a hooded sweater. The other man was described as white/Hispanic, age 34 to 37, about 5-9 to 6-0 and 200 to 225 pounds, and wearing a hooded sweater.
A MAN WAS detained by police for allegedly pushing another man onto the tracks at the CTA Irving Park Blue Line Station, 4131 W. Irving Park Road, at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 45-year-old male CTA employee reported that a man ran at him on the platform swinging his fists and screaming and pushed him onto the tracks, according to police. The man reported that bystanders were able to help him off the tracks and that he suffered blunt trauma and a fractured foot from the fall and took an ambulance to Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said. Officers said that several other CTA employees identified a man sitting on a bench as the assailant and the man identified himself as a U.S. State’s Attorney repeatedly saying, "I am the son of God" and was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
SHOTS were fired at about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, in the 3400 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 32-year-old man reported that he was driving south on Elston when a beige Nissan Altima occupied by two men approached and that one man fired a silver handgun at his vehicle before the men drove away south on Elston, according to police. The man reported that the front windshield, rear window and headrest were hit by bullets, police said.
The two men were described as white/Hispanic.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the 4100 block of West Henderson Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 46-year-old man reported that three men approached him and one pointed a handgun at him and demanded money and that another man searched his pockets and took his keys, a driver’s license and $160 in cash, according to police. The man reported that one of the men hit him in the head with the gun before they all fled in a vehicle, police said.
The men were described as white/Hispanic, age 18 to 25, and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5 a.m. Sunday, April 22, in the 4500 block of North Kennicott Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man reported that he had parked his car when a person struck him in the left side of the face with a glass bottle and that he passed out and regained consciousness 2 hours later and discovered his jacket, wallet and lottery tickets were missing, and that an ambulance then brought him to Illinois Masonic Hospital for serious laceration wounds, according to police.
A MAN WAS stabbed at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the 6100 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 34-year-old man reported that a man approached him from behind demanding his phone and money and that when he shoved the man away the man stabbed him with a sharp object before running away without proceeds, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital for a lacerated right forearm, police said.
The man was described as age 32 to 36, approximately 6-0 to 6-5 and 180 to 190 pounds, and having a dark skin complexion.
A WOMAN AND a man reported that the woman was attacked at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, April 22, outside of Brudder’s Bar and Grill, 3600 N. Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 26-year-old woman and 32-year-old man reported that two men started an argument with the woman and that one man hit her in the head with a metal baton before the men then fled in a white truck, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe, according to police. The woman was treated a Community First Medical Center, according to police.
The men were described as white/Hispanic and approximately 5-6 to 5-8 and 175 pounds.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:45 p.m. Monday, April 23, in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree store, 3521 W. Devon Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old employee reported that she was entering her car when a man demanded her belongings, threw her to the ground and grabbed her purse containing identification and bankcards, pain medication and about $2,700 in store cash, according to police. The woman reported that the man fled east on Devon before entering a dark blue minivan that drove north on Saint Louis Avenue, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 30 to 35, and approximately 6-0 to 6-2 and 200 pounds.
A MAN AND a woman reported that a man attempted to rob them at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the 4600 block of North Francisco Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that he was with an 18-year-old woman when a man with a wrench demanded money and struck the woman in the right arm before he fled without proceeds, according to police.
The man was described as age 22 to 29 and approximately 6-1 and 135 pounds.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 3400 block of West Byron Street was burglarized between 1 and 1:30 p.m., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door has been forced open and that a safe containing vehicle keys, a black 9mm semiautomatic pistol and about $1,500 in cash was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4800 block of North Lowell Avenue was burglarized between 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a television set valued at $700, a laptop computer valued at $600, and a small suitcase containing a social security card, U.S. passport and $5,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 3500 block of West Hollywood Avenue was burglarized between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, April 23, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a gold watch, four cell phones, three debit or credit cards and about $5,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
