Local Crime from 17th District 4-30-2016
A MAN WAS shot at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, April 24, in the 6300 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported at Swedish Covenant Hospital that as he was driving north on Pulaski he heard several gunshots and discovered that he had been shot in the elbow, according to police. Officers also found a vehicle with its rear passenger window shot out in the 5600 block of North Keystone Avenue, police said.
A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was stabbed during a domestic argument between his parents at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at their home in the 3700 block of North Sawyer Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 46-year-old man reported that he was having an argument with his 46-year-old wife and that she hit him and scratched him in the face, according to police. The man said that when he attempted to leave, the woman lunged at him with a knife and stabbed her son in the stomach and the lower right back, police said.
The boy was admitted to Lurie Children’s Hospital serious condition, police said.
TWO MEN were arrested following a fight at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, April 24, in the 3700 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A state trooper reported that he saw several people fighting, according to police. The trooper said that a man pushed a 42-year-old man into two windows at a nearby restaurant and that a second man punched the man while he was on the ground, police said.
A 30-year-old man reported that he attempted to help his friend and that he was struck in the back of the head with a bottle by a third man, according to police. The men reported that a group of men shouted at them and attacked them, police said. The suspects were arrested after they were identified, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Nelson Garcia, age 33, of the 4800 block of North Lawndale Avenue, and Rodolfo Perez-Gomez, age 25, of the 4500 block of North Drake Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was stolen at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in the 3900 block of West Ainslie Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 37-year-old man reported that he saw a man looking into his 2007 Jeep and that after he confronted the man and got into his vehicle, two men pointed guns at him, according to police. The man said that he dropped his car keys and ran away and that a group of about five men entered his car and drove away, police said.
The car was discovered about an hour later in Oak Park, police said.
A STREET vendor reported that he was robbed at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, April 24, in the 2700 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 56-year-old man reported that he sells ice cream from a push cart and that a man displayed a handgun and a second man took $200 from him, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that two men attempted to rob the Citgo gas station, 4251 W. Lawrence Ave., at about 3:10 a.m. Thursday, April 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that he was behind a Plexiglas window and that the door was locked when a man pointed a gun at him and demanded money and a second man punched the window and they both attempted to kick the door open but failed and they both fled, according to police.
One of the men was described as white, age 22 to 36 and 5-6 to 5-8, and wearing a black and orange hooded sweatshirt and a black mask. The second man was described as white and age 22 to 26, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black mask.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, in his apartment building in the 4700 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 28-year-old man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door to the building was open and that two men with guns in the hallway took his iPod, his cell phone and a bus pass, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, in his apartment building in the 4600 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 39-year-old man reported that after he entered the lobby of the building and that two men displayed handguns and took his cell phone and his wallet containing a credit card, and that one of the men punched him in the face and the abdomen before they fled, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5900 block of North Sauganash Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a gold chain, a watch, three rings, three sets of cufflinks and $7,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of North Avers Avenue was burglarized between 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23, and 3:30 a.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the back door was open and that two television sets valued at $920, a laptop computer valued at $400, an iPad valued at $399 and a cash box containing $300 were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following her arrest at about 6:45 p.m. Friday, April 22, in the 6700 block of West Cicero Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident, and the driver of one of the cars was taken to Saint Francis Hospital, according to police. The driver was arrested at the hospital after a test showed a blood alcohol content of .186, according to police.
The driver also received citations for speeding and driving an uninsured vehicle, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Celeste F. Miller, age 75, of the 4900 block of Lunt Avenue, Skokie.
THREE homes were vandalized with graffiti between 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, and 8 a.m. the following day, April 21, according to Lincolnwood police.
Graffiti was spray painted on garage doors in the 6500 and 6600 blocks of North Central Park Avenue, according to police.
Graffiti also was found spray painted on Monday, April 18, on a picnic table and on the concrete ground of the skate park at Springfield Park, 3901 West Arthur Ave., according to police.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 2:45 p.m. Friday, April 22, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman put jewelry and cosmetic items valued at $626 and a pair of sunglasses valued at $34 in a shopping bag and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Kshama K. Patel, age 22, of the 5300 block of Wright Terrace, Skokie.
