Local Crime from 17th District 4-6-19
SHOTS WERE fired at about 9 p.m. Friday, March 29, in the 3300 block of West Argyle Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man and a woman reported that they were driving west on Argyle when they recognized a light-colored 2007 Toyota with a female driver and a male passenger that was driving behind them, and that the Toyota drove past them and the man fired gunshots at them before they turned south on Spaulding Avenue, according to police. Officers recovered a spent bullet casing on scene, and no damage or injuries were reported, police said.
The armed man was described as white and age 41. The woman was described as white and age 18.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 12:50 a.m. Monday, April 1, in the 4000 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired and saw a damaged Honda Accord in a parking lot with four men outside, according to police. One of the men reported that they were driving south on Kedzie when, a beige-colored sports utility vehicle and a possible Lexus approached and chased them and people fired shots at them, police said.
The man reported that the beige SUV struck the Honda at some point during the altercation and a witness reported that he saw a beige SUV abandoned with airbags deployed in the middle of the street in the 4100 block of Kedzie and two men running east from the vehicle through a gangway of Kedzie, police said.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the 3100 block of West Grace Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 40-year-old man reported that he was walking on North Troy Street when he saw a purple Jeep and a silver Chevrolet sedan at the intersection of Troy and Grace and an occupant yelled "let’s dip out," and that the Chevrolet drove away while the Jeep drove the corner of Grace and Albany Avenue where two males were standing, and a Jeep passenger yelled "I told you" and fired gunshots before driving away east, according to police. Officers recovered two spent 9mm bullet casings in the middle of Grace and one spent .40-caliber bullet casing in an alley, police said.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the 3700 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 22-year-old man reported that he heard gunshots and saw a black Jeep and a dark-colored sports utility vehicle speeding away on Elston, according to police. Officers recovered three spent .40-caliber bullet casings on scene, police said.
A TEENAGER reported that he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle at about 3:45 p.m. Monday, April 1, in an alley of the 3600 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teenager reported that he was with a friend when they saw a blue sedan with tinted windows circling the area of Lawrence and Saint Louis avenues and as he was riding his bike later in a alley the same vehicle struck him, according to police. The teenager was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital for abrasions to the left side of his body, according to police. A witness reported the driver showed a black handgun and described the vehicle as a 1997 blue Mercury Marquis and provided a description of the driver, police said.
The man was described as black.
A MAN WAS stabbed at about 3 a.m. Saturday, March 30, in the 3000 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that he was walking to a liquor store with a woman when she became agitated and cut him on his left hand with a knife before she ran away north on Sacramento Avenue and east on Ainslie street, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.
The woman was described as white, age 21, 5-6 and 135 pounds, with brown hair, and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 3800 block of North Troy Street was burglarized at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, March 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported when he returned home he discovered that the front door was unlocked and that a gray suitcase and a metal box containing 600 rounds of ammunition and 100 shotgun shells were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 4300 block of North Avers Avenue was burglarized and his vehicle was stolen at about 12:40 p.m. Friday, March 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported his surveillance camera footage showed that a man entered his unlocked garage and his grey 2005 Chevrolet Equinox and drove the Chevrolet away with keys that were left inside the vehicle, according to police.
The man was described as age 25 to 30.
AN EMPLOYEE of Rincon Family Services, 3710 N. Kedzie Ave., reported that the office was burglarized between 10 p.m. Saturday, March 23, and 8:40 a.m. Monday, March 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that when she returned to the office she discovered that the second floor doorframe was damaged and that a desktop computer monitor, three laptop computers, two projectors and decorative samurai swords were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4900 block of North Karlov Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. Friday, March 29, and 9:45 p.m. Saturday, March 30, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that two bracelets and four pairs of earrings worth at least $800 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 3200 block of North Karlov Avenue was burglarized between noon and 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was forced open and that about $30 worth of change was missing from his home, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30, while it was parked in the 3300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her 2018 Jeep Blazer she discovered that the rear driver’s side window was broken and that a backpack valued at $20 containing clothing valued at $75, a wallet and five bank cards was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 6 p.m. Thursday, March 28, and 7 a.m. Friday, March 29, while it was parked in the 4500 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his 2005 Dodge Caravan he discovered that a black leather wallet valued at $30 containing his driver’s license, a state ID card and two bank cards was missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS arrested on drug and other charges at about 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in the 6700 block of North Avers Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that a homeless man was allegedly harassing him and during the investigation officers discovered that he provided a false identity and had an active warrant from an arrest on March 4 in Chicago, according to police. Officers discovered three plastic bags containing 1.95 grams of a substance suspected of being heroin in his possession, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Matthew Rozycki, age 44, of the 5700 block of North Avers Avenue, Lincolnwood.
A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, March 24, in the 4100 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers responded to a call of a two-vehicle crash on Touhy Avenue and a man reported that he was driving a 2013 BMW X3 sports utility vehicle north on Keeler when he entered the intersection and struck the second vehicle, and he was arrested after failing sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Gary Smiley, age 68, of the 7200 block of North Keeler Avenue, Lincolnwood.
A WOMAN charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following her arrest at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, March 17, in the intersection of North Lincoln and West Devon avenues, according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers responded to the scene of a three-vehicle crash in the intersection and a woman driving a crashed 2016 Hyundai Accent was arrested after she failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Donata Dagostino, age 30, of the 3100 block of South Maple Avenue, Berwyn.
