Local Crime from 17th District 5-5-18

A 5-YEAR-OLD GIRL was shot at about 1:40 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the 4600 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 43-year-old mother and a 44-year-old father reported that the mother was bringing their children through the side gangway when the father saw a man make gang gestures and fire a handgun at another man in front of their home and that the girl was hit once in the right ankle, according to police. The man reported that he drove the girl to Swedish Covenant Hospital where she was treated and later transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital in stable condition, police said. Officers discovered a bullet hole in a parked Pontiac Torrent and three spent 9mm bullet casings and three bullet fragments, according to police.
The shooter was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 25, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The other man was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 25, and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

A MAN WAS shot at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, April 29, in the 3500 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Two men, age 27 and 28, reported that they were driving north on Kedzie when a newer model red and orange Jeep Liberty with tinted windows made a U-turn and followed them, according to police. The men reported that as they turned east onto Addison Street the passenger of the Jeep fired a handgun twice, striking the 27-year-old once in the left buttock, and that the man was treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital in stable condition, according to police.
The men were described as white/Hispanic and age 20 to 30.

SHOTS were fired at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday, April 28, in the 3900 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 19-year-old man reported that a man driving a dark-colored sport utility vehicle yelled at him and then parked in a nearby alley, approached and fired a gunshot, and that he hid in a residential gangway as the shooter drove away south on Spaulding, according to police.
The man was described as approximately 5-8 to 6-0 and 180 to 200 pounds.

A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the 4100 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers saw a 2000 Honda Civic pass through a stop sign and conducted a traffic stop, and upon investigation discovered that the car was reported stolen, according to police. The man reported that he had permission and was returning the vehicle, but the owner reported that he did not know the man and he was arrested and the vehicle was returned, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Adam G. Peabody, age 29, of the 400 block of South Pierce Avenue, Wheaton.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, at a bathroom of the Shell gas station, 4000 W. Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 56-year-old man reported that he was inside the gas station’s bathroom when a man forced the door open, pushed him out of his wheelchair and kicked him in the face and stomach, and that the man took his cell phone valued at about $100 and $55 in cash as he lay on the ground, according to police. The man was treated at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.
The man was described as Hispanic with a light brown skin complexion, age 40 to 45, approximately 5-8 and 160 pounds, with brown eyes and short black hair, and wearing a black skull cap, a grey jacket, blue jeans and white gym shoes.

A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 3600 block of North Keeler Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, and 8:15 a.m. Thursday, April 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to the garage he discovered that the side service door had been pried open and that two toolboxes, a vacuum, a leaf blower, and various vehicle parts valued at about $900 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5700 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Sunday, April 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that his rear door was open and his cell phone valued at about $650 was missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 12:40 a.m. Monday, April 30, in the 6900 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers saw a silver Toyota Camry hit the curb while turning from West Pratt Avenue to Lincoln Avenue and continue to drift in the lanes on Lincoln, according to police. Officers stopped the car in the 6900 block of North Lincoln Avenue and the man was arrested after he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified as Andres Osorio-Romero, age 35, of the 3800 block of Lunt Avenue.

A COUPLE reported that two men burglarized their vehicle at about 3:10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, while it was parked in the 6500 block of North Navajo Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The 55-year-old woman reported that she awoke to sounds outside and saw two men wearing dark clothing in her husband’s 2016 Ford van, and that they entered a dark-colored sedan and drove away south as she called out to them, according to police. The 53-year-old man reported that he discovered that an air compressor and two saws were missing from the van, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED parts were stolen from his vehicle between 1:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, while it was parked in the 6500 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The 21-year-old man reported that when he returned to his 2012 Mazda M3 he discovered the rear spoiler missing, according to police.
